I voted. *edit for results
Dear diary,
♥ Today is/was election day in Canada. I voted before I went to work, figuring that I couldn’t complain about Harper being elected again if I didn’t go vote against him. I voted NDP and it looks as though they are making history tonight, overtaking the Liberals and becoming the official opposition for the first time ever. That’s pretty cool.
♥ In other news, I just finished creeping old high school people on facebook. There’s something about an election that makes me think of high school and I’m not sure why. lol. There was one guy in particular that I was creeping and I had the biggest crush on him when I was in grade 9. He’s totally hot…. and totally setting off my gaydar!
♥ I took a nice, relaxing bubble bath tonight and now I smell really nice. 🙂
♥ Other than these brief sentences, I’m not going to write about O.B.L. I know a lot of people are celebrating his death, but regardless of how horrible a person he was (and there really is no doubt about that) I don’t believe celebrating ANY death is in good taste. That’s all I really have to say about that, and if you want to leave me nasty notes- I’m going to delete them and block you.
*final results for the election
Conservative Majority.
BOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Hissssssssss!
Yea for voting!!! I completely agree about O.B.L. and have actually been feeling sick to my stomach since I heard the news as I watched people celebrate. I can’t put the two together.

very different situation….this guy that we knew died a few years back and his family had a party. It was a “he was a great guy! here have a beer because he was awesome!” type shindig. The guy that died left money in his will so the party would be all expenses paid. Weird!

RYN: Ha! Well, the word might have caught your attention because you were reading it, but what were you feeling/thinking when you read the word?

I agree with you that celebrating death is culturally in bad taste. However, I think it was celebrating what he symbolized to people. No one has the illusion that terrorism and hatred are dead, but there is one less of the “Randalls” (Monsters, Inc.) in the world, and that IS worth celebrating.
