Doe! A deer. A female deer.

Dear Diary;

So I was cooking supper and just happened to glance out the window and what should I see? A deer and her fawn. The fawn wasn’t standing up so I couldn’t see it in the long grass- except it’s white tail would appear once and a while. I grabbed my camera and snapped a few shots and thought I would post them here.

 I’m slightly disapointed in my new lens…I should have went for an better telephoto lens instead of the 70-300mm. Of course, I wasn’t really  intending to take any pictures of deer in our back field when I bought the lens. The deer were about.. oh.. 130 yards away (just short of 400 feet) and they stayed and ate grass for a good hour or more before wandering away.

I started with the 18 – 70 that came with my camera. When I bought my 70 – 300 it was if I could suddenly see. I know what you mean though, I so want something 500 or more but the prices are just insane. Perhaps you should map out the natural “blinds” on your property, note the direction of the wind and get out and get closer to your subject. Great pictures btw.

Just an FYI since you like photography. When I travel and do not have access to editing I use a web site that allows for the basics. It allows me to quick fix, resize and make e-mail sizes easily. Thought I would share it with you in case you have not seen it yet. Have an excellent day. http://www.picnik.com
