Crippled

Tonight in a few minutes I will set out on a journey that will take me to the arms of my prince.  The rain may try to beat me down but I will not fail in my mission.  The watch dogs have been set upon me and now I must be very careful.  They watch closely for a little blonde girl in a dark cloak that shrouds her, hiding her from the moon light.  The watch dogs are old and tired and I am too crafty for their worn out noses and their blind eyes.  The dogs can not find me once I have passed the threshold.  Now I must only escape the eyes of the drunken guards.  They slumber in a drunken haze but a noise could wake their slow minded bodies and prompt anger.  Slowly I will climb the old rickety stairs to where my lover lays caged and I will free him.  We will play forbidden games and run like wild children in the rain that pours down from the black clouded sky.  When the clouds begin to fade and the stars come out to play mind tricks with our eyes we will lay back and rest in the damp grass.  Soon the sun will round the world and I will descend from my prince’s tower and I will travel through the dew covered foliage and the fog that lies low over the ground.
