Thinking in slightly longer lines
A toe dipped (shivering, bare) just below the surface of cold but not freezing water.
Not completely insane, but hesitation; is it safe? Is it fair? What will this lead to, after all that has gone before?
Remembering the wilderness barely survived, the tangled branches surrounding the wild and winding road there was, sometimes soaring above, sometimes crawling below, sometimes walking through cleared paths.
Life and its precarious jutting jetties and unpredictable forays. It continues, continues, continues.
And for that, I am grateful. Because today exists with all its flaws and imperfections and glimmers of some other thing.
Today exists and it flourishes. Beautiful as always. What a treat I’ve missed.
