Seasonal segue

From Friday; from last night; from this morning on the bus because it is that time of year. And despite N describing what he saw in the Times Square area on Saturday (in the movie theatre, people filling the lobby lined up to see Return of the King; waiting to enter Toys R Us, a line that extended around the block) I endeavor to bear in mind what … who … we are celebrating at this time of year. Oh … and Happy Hannukah to those of you who are celebrating that lovely holiday too. And Happy Solstice (a day late but no less truly wished). Righto, a few whittery bits.

The clearing

It was a long day
full and fluttery
busy and buzzing and do you know
that I learned more about
what is acceptable in my world
allowed and for the sake of
this tentative dance of my soul
forbidden

There is a need to close a wound
to rid the air of excuses
see clearly and choose the way
here or somewhere else
but live it in its embrace
and I am 44
less perplexed
more filled with joy
as each day offers itself
to be known

Carols and considerations

Mercy mild
may you find it
in the quiet when
the last distraction is gone

Sweet serenity
sail on the placid surface
of your soul in the light
cast by the choices you have made

I have wondered how you know
hidden facets to protect
faced wrath and forgiveness
been exposed by one
covered and healed by love’s
true and gentle hand

Redeeming grace
there will never be a turning back
for I have been given the truth
that comes once in a life

Preparing

Dear one
born where you were
so that all the very smallest
and lowliest born of this world
this planet where we lose the truth
in so many ways
in so many places
would know that none is not loved
cared for in heaven

Now
as those of us who believe certain things
celebrate your no vacancy entrance
even all it says of our natures
please fill our hearts with awareness
of the absolute light that shone
before the stable beasts
their blessed keepers and shepherds
a young and awestruck and faithful woman
all under a new star

Every Lovely *snuggles you tight (er than ususal)*

It saddens me to think that Christmas has become so commercialized. People have forgotten the meaning of it.
