Samir’s love

There is a lovely little news shop a block and a half up Second Avenue from where LoWW and I work. (LoWW aka Hidden voice.) In the afternoons Samir is on duty there.

Samir is a very sweet person. He has a cute round face and a nice soft smile. He lisps slightly; and he adores LoWW.

He finds the sweetest ways to let her see his adoration. He won’t let her pay for her snacks or drinks or whatnot sometimes (he even gives me discounts sometimes just for being her friend). His face lights up just to see her passing by on the street outside.

One day we went to the Associated (supermarket) next to the news shop. LoWW had gotten what she wanted and headed for the cash register. Guess who was being rung up? Yes! So he takes her lunch stuff and puts it through with his own stuff.

Now, LoWW is a very sweet and very shy young woman. So she is desperately trying to pay him for her lunch, all the while blushing furiously (she is famous for blushing). And Samir won’t let her; he is shy too, and he darts off out of sight. I was laughing and loving the sweetness of these two.

Yesterday LoWW and I stayed at the office late. We stopped in the news shop; Lal was behind the counter. Lal is very nice and a good friend of Samir’s. Well, LoWW got something and paid for it; but when she was done putting away her change and went to grab her bag from the counter, it wasn’t there! “Hey, where’s my bag?”

Lal was grinning. He had hidden her bag and wouldn’t give it back. “I am waiting for my friend to come.” And a moment later, smiling broadly, Samir pops out from the back of the store! Laughter and beaming grins all around.

Well, I don’t know if dear Samir will ever win the heart of the lovely LoWW; but I know that he is as delightful an elf of a suitor as any woman could want, and I love these two very sweet people. They both make me giggle; and I do so love to giggle …
