How to be a substitute blogger
9:30pm entry
I have been feeling anxious about my promise to act as a substitute blogathoner. Not because I don’t want to help, but because this feels like hallowed ground. Open Diary is Me Explorer’s sanctuary. At least that’s how it seems to me. She is such an amazing writer and poet that I am humbled to be here. I would never dream of attempting to fill her shoes, but will gladly walk in them a while for her if she would like.
I think I’ll write a bit about my job. It’s interesting, and I enjoy it quite a bit. Even on the bad days I head home from work with stories that most people wouldn’t believe. You see, I work in a maximum security prison with inmates who are mentally ill. As C. mentioned, I am a nurse. The official title of my credentials is long, but I am like a nurse practitioner working in psychiatry. I do group and individual therapy with men in prison. My office is a converted cell– they took out the bunks, sink and toilet and put in a desk, chair and computer. It’s interesting to be in prison for 8 hours at a time. I am very thankful for my freedom, and have a lot more respect for the power of hope and faith, and much less respect and trust in our legal system.
I hope this entry finds all of you well.
