Friday afternoon … and evening

It grows
along with knowledge
adjusts to circumstances
being what they are
few have all of mine
but still they do
more have much of it
some have facets glinting
in their general direction

Plans are made
results occur as life demands
we move forward
don’t we
and sometimes we step back
for a view
letting go and reaching
reading needs and seeing truth
where we find ourselves

Even as my next hour calls
I look back and hold dear
every syllable shared
in all the days before
and my roaming spirit winks
even as one true thing
is given in various amounts
did I send off sparks
recalling sweet days

Once upon a time
remains a part of me
even as my roots grow deeper
in a land that isn’t mine
tonight I’ll roam this city
converse with its eclectic energy
concoct a tale or two to tell
when storytime arrives again
and my eyes will sparkle

(Written while dining [ahem] at McDonald’s in the Village)

Dining solo
I looked at books before
but the one I imagined
for a gift wasn’t there
and I have yet to experience
its contents
but then it comes to me
just what your gift must be
so I will craft it
of my own rough work
without a kit
for such a thing has yet to be devised

Desire is a miserable mistress
at times
no one else holds me
so closely wrapped in her arms
so often and so long
