A lovely day

She has this way …

I am bursting
knowing what that feels like
fireworks popping out
all over
and what was a quiet subdued smile
is now enormous and
apparently magnetic

A celebrating day
a friend was born and
it seems in honor of it
the gladdest tidings received
and if anyone ever needs to know
why
although it’s a silly thing to seek
really isn’t it
it is because while she cooked dinner
she made my heart sing and fly
at once

A silly goose
and a lark in the clear morning sky
a woman
made joyful in a certain confirmation
I would fling my arms up toward heaven
forget that I can’t hold a tune
sing this glory out to the world
whirl in rapture like a dervish
but in the interest of remaining
unincarcerated
there is simply a larger-than-normal smile
shining in this corner of the city

*waving*

in the poem, i wonder…what is the friend happy about? *smiles* her new found freedom? her self discovery? hey, i’m gonna think that’s me…if that’s ok. *big smiles*

For some reason this reminds me of Elizabeth Bishop and her time in Brazil. Go figure.

What a happy note. Whoever made you smile that broadly must be wonderful. And so are you!
