State Rt. 30

Yesterday, the entire day was virtually a kodak moment, and what did I do? I. forgot. the. camera.  Dammit.  Tara and I roadtripped it to Maryland to pick up another beater Honda for our collection.  This will be my 6th Honda* Yipeeee.  Mark can have his Tahoe.  SUV’s, to me, are like driving a school bus. No thanks.  Gas hogs!  This Honda is a ’90 Civic LX, actually in great shape the engine purrrrrrs, clutch is tight, brakes are good, no major mechanical problems.  Some rust over the usual Honda places–rear wheel well, but they touched it up.

We decided to take state route 30 instead of the interstate accross Pennsylvania.  I am so glad we did.  The drive was absolutely breathtaking. The trees and all their colors we so beautiful.  Picture purfect.  Yet I am pictureless. *smacks head*  Tara and I had lots of good conversation, bonding in between the ewwwing and awwwing and “will you look at that tree?!”  We hit areas with elevations of 2300 feet! We were literally driving in the clouds!  We had to drive with the emergency blinkers on at one point down these winding, spiraling hills.  We only had to drive 20 miles into Maryland. PA is one long-ass state. Not as long as Alabama though.  When we drove from Perdido Key straight up Alabama on our way home from vacation it was endless, I tell you endless.

*sigh* It’s gonna take me a day or two to get over missing this photo opportunity.

*My Honda History:

*97 Honda Accord lxi–I totaled 1/99  I miss the flippy lights.

*89 Honda Civic lx–still kickin’ @ 232,000 miles! Taught first born to drive in this vehicle, I have a strange attachment to this car.

*91 Honda Accord lxi–Tara totaled this gem this summer–I’d link you to the story but that entry has been hacked, baby, hacked.

*88 Honda Civic si–bought this car for $200 strictly to part out and turn a profit.  The structure was damaged, couldnt be saved, we did however take it a few times on some back roads and had lottsa fast fun. Sold $450 in parts off of it and salvaged some for myself.

*93 Civic dx  We still use this car, not my fav model Honda, but I got a good deal on it, I make Mark drive it alot to work, truck sucks too much gas, and he travels 70 miles roundtrip daily.  Tara’s ex bf is wanting to buy it, I’m gonna sell.

*90 Cicic lx–Latest addition, my favorite Civic body type–the 88-91s.  I need to bond with this car.  I’m going to clean it top to bottom tomorrow.

I just saw an ad in the CP(city paper) about rt 30 which used to be called (or technically is) lincoln highway. It’s 200 miles long started east of Pittsburgh and going past Gettysburg and it’s basically a museum on the road, tons of historical sites and stuff. I’d like to take a trip on it one day. That’d be neat. Why didn’t you take pics on the way home? That just gives you reason to go again!!

heh

I KNOW ROUTE 30!!

I think you should send a copy of this entry to Honda, you might get some freebies for being such a loyal Honda driver?!

Friday I’m taking my driver’s test, I don’t know if I wrote about that or not *thinks real hard* I think I did but I’m not sure. There goes my short term memory lol. But anyway, I’m going to Greensburg on Friday and I get to take RT 30. It’s not the nicest part but it’s still fun. 40 min on one road is always fun. It’s like driving in the country, get used to the sceneary. No camera needed though.

I’m not sure. I wanna have some idea of what I wanna do. I don’t just wanna be going to college without knowing what it is I am trying to study for. That’s just a waste of time to me.

Kind of reminds me of my love for VW Beetles. They were just such awesome cars.

Hi there, hmmm, you left a note but it was just your name…. I thought that was kind of odd. Anyway I have been reading your diary even though my notes have kind of trickled off. Just wanted to let you know that I am still reading.

Honda’s are great cars. Toyota’s too. Too bad I stubbornly refuse to buy either because they aren’t American cars. *LOL* My hubby had a brand new Honda Accord when we met. LOTS of good memories are associated with the front seats of that Honda. *LOL*
