Weekend update
Pretty busy this past weekend.
Saturday was Addams Family rehearsal, the music portion. I’m keeping up ok considering I’ve missed a few rehearsals. It was nice to finally get a chance to work on one of my solos. The musical director seemed happy, so that’s good. We haven’t always been on the best of terms, so any positive interaction for us is a win.
Afterwards was Barbafellas rehearsal. It was the first time we got to see everyone’s costumes. I decided to go with the disco look in the end. I’m going to get a few uses out of those Value Village gogo boots in the end. Things are really shaping up pretty well. I could watch Will do Paroles, paroles, paroles all day long… sigh!
Justine dropped me off at home, we had toyed with the idea of going to see Marjorie’s concert, but both of us were completely burned out after two back to back rehearsals, so finally we just decided to bail.
Sunday morning was meant to be dance rehearsals for Singing in the Rain, but I had a text the next morning that the choreographer needed to push back rehearsal, seeing as I wasn’t available, it ended up getting cancelled, so I got to sleep in! Yay! In the end, it was just the full dress rehearsal for Barbafellas. First show is in Montreal in two weekends, then Ottawa and finally three shows in Calgary in May. Granted, we’re more visual additions than actual vocal additions (at least for Montreal), but we still need to make sure we’re tight as we’ve apparently become the references for the singing/dancing (flattering, but…)
Pascal had offered for me to meet up with him to go watch a live show at Verre Bouteille. I was semi-tempted, but things are still too complicated and anyway I wasn’t sure what time rehearsal would be done, so I begged off before heading to rehearsal, he shrugged it off, so probably a good thing I didn’t go. I think I’m still seeing more in this than what he’s actually offering. Aargh, dealing with an ex is always so damn complicated. It’s like he wants to get all the advantages of my company without really having to invest anything into it. Let him do the work.
John-Paul: I finally got a little irritated with the extended delay on text replies Thursday and called him out. – Texting with you is FUN! (and borderline insulting). He ended up texting me back a little later apologizing. I know he’s not a big fan of his phone, we’d had a conversation about that the first time we met, but when you text someone to meet up, it shouldn’t take more than 24h to reply to their answer afterwards. It was fairly late, so I said thank you and left it at that. Friday morning I had a few texts apologizing again and we ended up texting back and forth for a good bit of Friday (told him he’d just have to find a way to gain my forgiveness). We ended up planning to meet up Saturday. So he dropped by after a party near my place and we had a lovely couple of hours. We seem to have found an equilibrium of some sort, somewhere between play and friendship and we seem ok with that right now. He’s off for the next two weeks or so, off to Vancouver and to visit his folks. I don’t expect to hear from him until he gets back. Which is fine as my schedule is going to continue being insane for the next month or so with all the rehearsals.
Dance rehearsal for Addams family last night and chorus rehearsal tonight… there’s only 3 more weeks before the Festival in Calgary, and two more weeks after that until the final concert. Add to that all the additional dance/festival rehearsals and I’m going to be really happy to see June roll aroundÂ đŸ˜‹
I have friends in one play which I’ll probably go see on Thursday (guess I’ll skip badminton this week), and another friend in a show on Saturday night (after rehearsal). And I somehow want to find some time to meet up with two potential dates…
