Bowling, among other things

Hahahah, I think I may be addicted to my own diary… rereading it that is. I started at the beginning and I’m working my way back through my own life, it’s incredibly revealing, and I’m rather proud to say that if it wasn’t mine, I would probably have read it regularly… up to the point where I dropped off the face of the planet and only came back to complain that is…

Had a nice evening tonight. We were having the yearly bowling fundraiser for the choir, so I picked up Anne on the way there and we started setting up all the door prizes. Once everyone started trickling in and we were done, we stepped out to grab some food (a couple of slices of pizza, just down the street) before heading back to bowl our little hearts out.

Now bowling is most definitely one ‘sport’ that I have absolutely no aptitude for, I’m always impressed at those girls that seem to be able to get strikes all over the place while throwing the ball so lightly that it literally takes 10 seconds for it to make it to the end of the alley. I throw hard, so when I hit the pins, quite a few of them go down, the downside is that I don’t always have the greatest aim… and hitting the gutter hard does not seem to help my score 😛

Was on a team with Karl and Vincent and two of the other interpreters (Nathalie and Régine) as well as my cousin Éric. We had a good time of it, fortunately, none of us seemed to be that fantastic, and we enjoyed poking fun at each other and cheering our successes. Heck, two of them even managed turkeys (three strikes in a row), although the highest score was only 143. I managed 3 strikes in one game as well, but when they aren’t lined up next to each other, and when they are followed by a string of gutter balls, it doesn’t really make all that much of a difference in your score… lol!

After the bowling, Anne came with me as I decided to drop in on Aimee’s party. So her appartment is fantastic, I am most definitely jealous. Turned out I actually knew a good chunk of the people there, just strange that most of them have taught me a swing class at some point, in one school or another. Always interesting to see people in a different environment, surrounded by people you both know but didn’t realise you have in common. It’s funny, I always think I’ll be out of place at those things, because I’m still fairly new to the swing dance scene, but everytime, people just seem to accept the fact that I’m there as completely normal. I guess it’s because I think  of them as teachers in my mind, I need to learn to separate dance teachers from professors, it’s really a whole different world, and I need to remember that half of these people are actually younger than me, and although I respect them when they are teaching me, I should be able to see them as peers in other situations.

I’ll tell you though, nothing better than watching drunk teachers play Jungle Speed and talking with ridiculous fake accents to make them seem more approachable 🙂

Didn’t stick around for too long, as I was coming down with a headache and Anne was also exausted… and to top it off, the cops showing up at the front door put a bit of a damper on things.

So I headed home, and got sucked into reading my own entries… and now it’s late and  I still have a headache, sigh.

Hmmm, have been invited to a superbowl party tomorrow (or rather later today). I’ve actually never been to one, so it should be interesting.

I know what you mean about re-reading your own diary! I do it fairly often, but generally I’m looking back on things to remind myself of stuff that has happened. 😉 It’s always disappointing to learn that I forgot to write about a certain event or person 😛 We used to do bowling in high school for sport. 😀 It was the most active I ever felt like being, for sure!
