Something Fun

Aloha…

I moved to Brookings in 2006… and one of the first people that I met… was a single woman… who is also my neighbor…

As we got to know one another (as friends)… one of the things she told me was that she was a member of the women’s group P.E.O.

I shared with her… that I had been married to a P.E.O. for seventeen years… and knew quite a bit about the organization…

She was the only single woman in the group… and that Christmas invited me to be her date to their annual Christmas dinner/party…

I readily accepted…

And so it was for eleven consecutive Decembers… she being the only single woman… had a steady partner for the dinner…

Now she has a boyfriend…

So does this mean I’m finished with this group… nope… read on:

Tonight my phone rang.. “Jim… I’m inviting you out on a date”…

This person is the newest member of this local P.E.O. chapter… single… and when she asked the other members who she might ask to accompany her… she said they all shouted:  “Ask Jim”…

She did…

I accepted…

Should be a fun time…

Aloha oe…

What does PEO mean? Yes, have a ball.

Georgette, The organization does not divulge the official meaning of its name. But it provides educational opportunities, does fund-raising, and has a sorority sort of feeling to it. Hard to explain, but it’s multi-generational in my family, and a very good organization.

@foreverinmotion Through all of the years that I have been “involved” with this group of women… I have to say that they are “top notch”…!  Smiles…

Four generations of PEO in our family! Sorry to Georgette, the definition of PEO is a hard held secret. Jim, great that you’ll continue going to the party 🙂

I’m always amazed at how easily you make friends. Enjoy your “date” to the fullest.
