The Goddess Dancing

I was soundly asleep when I heard the noise. I thought the world was ending. It sounded like the planet was splitting in half. When I was awake enough to figure that this wasn’t very likely to happen, I thought a massive earthquake must have been about to strike (if you’ve ever been in an earthquake, you’ll know that you hear them before you feel them). It struck me then that my room would be one of the worst places to be in an earthquake. It’s a platform above my lounge, with no barrier along the edge to prevent people from falling off. You get up to it by means of a ladder leading through a hole in the floor. No doorways to seek shelter under and plenty of opportunities for falling.

But when the lightning struck and the rain began to pelt down, it suddenly made sense. A 4am eletrical storm. The panoramic window in my bedroom gave me the most invigorating view. The lightning flashed over the hill which is the view from my bedroom, dramatically silhouetting the trees. Bella the witch’s cat stirred on my bed and found herself bewitched by the storm, too. We sat together and watched in awe for several minutes.

Then I began to get a vision. The goddess dancing in the rain, lightning crackling from her hair, thunder rolling from her feet and hands. The storm which started out seeming scary, and became beguilling then became utterly joyful.

The storm went on for a long time. Before it finished I fell back to sleep. But it was blissful, energising sleep. The next morning I awoke full of joy and wonder at the world.

I love thunderstorms… especially the rain… and the smell of it. Nothing better than just listening to the pitter patter through your ceiling.

Wow! I will never forget a storm when I was younger. We lived in the countryside, and my parents had gone out for the evening, keaving me and my sister. A storm brewed up, and we gathered together in my sister’s room, because she didn’t like storms. And then we watched out of the window to see the most incredibkle display of coloured lightening. Reds, blues, greens, it was stunning.

I have never seen anything like it before or since, but my sister and I watched, absolutely beguiled. Sometimes storms can have such magic in them. Ryn: Am investigating now – thank you so much!! Will let you know how it goes!

Isn’t it amazing when you get those tiny glimpses of the gods? I would give my left foot to live somewhere that I could feel that connection to nature 24/7! “america is a bad place for gods”. It sounded like it was a very beautiful experience. And hey, great sleep is always a good thing too! RYN: Likewise, i am glad that you are writing again too. I’ve missed you!
