I Can’t Believe this Thing Still Exists
It’s been months since I even came to this site. Ah well, maybe I’ll start writing again. It’s certainly been a hella year and I’m not lacking for subject material. And it’s probably healthy for me to vent without inflicting my obsessiveness and raving upon my friends (instead you, dear readers (those of you who are left anyway!) can endure it).
Firstly, I’m in love. Deep crazy painful love. Met a girl, knew she was the one for me, and lo she was. Of course, it hasn’t been as smooth sailing, and you should be glad I wasn’t inflicting my obsessive ravings and insecurities on you during the painful adjustment period between being a long time single-girl and finding myself in love with the least likely girl imaginable.
You see, I always imagined I’d end up with an older woman, someone stable to balance my frequent flightiness. She’d be earthy and mature and we’d live in the country and grow vegetables and raise chickens.
But what I met was a crazy younger (scarily younger, to someone who has previously dated people a minimum of 5 years older than herself) woman, so vibrant and full of life and full of joy. She’s spontaneous and high-strung and high-maintainence and makes my flightiness seem like a peguin desperately flapping its little wings trying to get off the ground.
I met her in a bar (so classy!). We danced a bit and then went to get coffee and talked into the small hours of the night. The next day I rang Sloopy and told her I’d met a girl. She said, “Is she, like, your girlfriend?” and I said, “No but she’s going to be.” From the moment I met her I knew she would be.
We clicked. It works. It’s beautiful. And oh so challenging. Just because it’s love doesn’t make it simple. I always imagined that if I fell in love everything would fall into place. Of course that’s not the case. If anything it’s harder because there’s so much more riding on it.
Time for work now. More updates as I find the time and energy.
You’re alive!!!! 😀 So good to hear from you again, and that all sounds very exciting indeed!! Here’s to more writing to fill us in on all the details! Welcome back 🙂

…I too met a woman in a bar…we didn’t go for coffee. We are still together after 370 days (her tally). Reading your note makes me think of what has happened or could happen in my life.

Wow, it’s great to hear from you! And I’m glad that you’ve found someone. Isn’t it funny how when we *do* find someone, it’s often the person least like the one we thought they’d be? (Did that make sense? I think my writing skills have atrophied!!) Hugs,

Oh, do write more! Pretty please? You’re very right in love not making it easy. But it’s a different kind of hard, when the love is good.
