Taste Buds
I’ve lost a lot of weight. I’ve also noticed I’ve lost my taste buds. Everything tastes "weird" to me. I really noticed it tonight. I made chicken breasts for dinner. I like mine plain with only BBQ sauce to dip it in. I’ve always loved Chicken & Rib BBQ sauce but tonight it just tasted awful. There was nothing wrong with the sauce itself because my hubby said his was fine and tasted the same.
A few days ago I also noticed that the same brand of peanut butter tasted off. I can’t explain it but it just seems that everything that I used to love tastes strange.
Is it possible that my sense of taste has changed. I hope not. I hope this is just a stage my body is going through.

That does sound strange…have you burned your tongue on anything recently? I know that messes with your sense of taste. So does having a cold/allergies because your nose is all stuffed up and half of taste is really smell…you know?

I have noticed that things I normally love don’t taste as good to me anymore. I wonder why.

Lately a lot of things taste/smell bad for me. But I guess that’s for a different reason. 😉 It is weird that you think these things don’t taste good anymore. Sometimes I have “fads”. I really LOVE a food for a while and then just stop liking it and won’t eat it for a long time (if ever). I wonder why that happens.

I have heard that does happen to people who are doing well with weight loss. Their tastes simply change. To me, I think it is a good thing because I like stuff that is bad for me. So I am hoping my taste will change and all of a sudden I will crave salads and water. Woo that would be grand. You are doing so well keep it up. Where did you get your 176 and falling? Did you make it? If so how!?

My taste for meat has been really off, like with chicken and steak. It’s getting really hard for me to eat it. I just don’t like the texture, and the taste isn’t as great to me anymore. It sucks!

Maybe the peanut butter and BBQ sauce is too sugar for you now. Have you ever tried natural peanut butter? It usually doesn’t have added sugar to it. Since I have switched I prefer it much more than Jif or Skippy.

Its because your body has become unused to the things that are in the things u usually like, your body becomes conditioned to like things if u eat them often enough and when its taken away, its like drug withdrawal then u dont miss it. Fat and sugar are almost like drugs anway! Also, as u lose weight, you can breathe easier and as tastes are actually smells, maybe the smell is putting u off!

Thanks sweetie. I am at work right now. I am actually writing an entry about it. The weather is not very bad actually. A lot of rain and the wind is picking up but I am hoping that will be the end of it. And I hope the power doesn’t go out because that would make my night soooo busy! Thank you for thinking of me *Hugs*

Your body may be wanting more spicy or more healthy foods. When it starts to get leaner, that seems to be what it craves. At least, it is for me. Good luck and good health. –Candy, webmistress of
