Saturday Night
It has been a very busy few weeks but Ive enjoyed it a lot. Christmas was wonderful, even though my daughter had the flu and actually fell asleep while we exchanged gifts. Got through the Christmas ordeal with Terrys family again without anything more than boredom. The whole family seems to be missing some emotional chip somewhere although it could be a lot worse. I just nod and smile a lot and hope its over soon. Thank goodness, Terry is adopted because he’s nothing like the rest of his family. They’re not awful but just don’t know how to show much of any emotion.
Been visiting with friends a lot lately too so its been a lot of fun these past few weeks.
The family of my beloved grand-twins all came down with what Im sure is the flu on Friday so today I made them all chicken soup with matzo balls from scratch and brought it over to them. Im forever grateful for flu shots. The flu would always hit me around Thanksgiving or Christmas and really do me in. Now I never miss my flu shot.
We didnt send out Christmas cards this year, mostly because we were going to be late getting them out. But I came up with the idea of sending Happy New Year cards instead. This way we wont be lost in the crazy shuffle of all those other cards. Finally got someone to take a picture of us and our dogs. Went online to Snapfish and in a few days, here they were! Im forever impressed with new technology. I remember when I was a kid and my parents wanted to send Christmas cards with pictures on them and they had to order them before Halloween or at least it seems that way to me now.
A couple days ago, I found a recipe for bread made by a bread machine that claimed it was the best ever. I pretty much doubted that and had put my bread machine away for over a year now because the breads were never really all that good. I got it out, followed the directions and wow! It was great. Finally bread that looked, felt and tasted like real homemade bread. I ate it warm with lots of butter and it took me back to when I visited my grandparents in West Virginia as a little girl, walking with my grandfather to the bakery and hurrying home to eat it warm with butter with the rest of the family. There will never ever be a bread that will taste as good as that one did. Good memories are always better than the real thing. But this one was good enough to make me remember that time.
This is part of our Happy New Year card. Terry and our other dog, Joey, decided to be anonymous so it’s just me and Jack. Jack is part German Shepherd, part Lab and mostly Chow.
Happy New Year to everyone. My resolution this year is to take the time to enjoy each and every day to its fullest, to recognize how wonderful my life is and to appreciate all the great people in my life.
would you post the recipe? i put my machine away too for the same reason

Snapfish hasn’t been working real well to post pictures on here. I’ve been storing my pictures on photo bucket and posting them from there. I didn’t send cards out this year either. I kind of lost Christmas in all the health issues this year. Hope your friends feel better soon.

Happy New Year to you too! You do sound chipper going into the new year! Funny…I just pulled out my bread machine this morning with the intention of finding some good bread machine recipes. So…was wondering if you might share yours…? Is it The Year of Bread, I wonder. 🙂 Warmly,

Your Jack looks a lot like my late dog Gus who was a stray, but the vet thought he was German Shepherd/lab and I think he had some chow because his tongue had black on it. As usual, a good pic of you and I think New Year’s cards are an excellent idea.

Glad the relatives weren’t awful…..just lacking!! Lol. Happy New Year cards sound like a good idea. All trends seem to originate from one coast or the other. Maybe in a few years it will catch on here in the Midwest!! Happy New Year!!
