Monday Evening***EDIT

Painters finally finished late, late Thursday evening. Good bye. Don’t call us, we’ll call you!!

Yes, it looks fabulous! I love it. It wasn’t long after they left before I was rolling out the runners down the hallways over the hardwood floor, admiring the new fat baseboards, all shiny, clean and white.

Friday we had to go to the car dealership because my lease was up and I was just going to trade my car for a newer one. Terry had received a letter from the dealership, asking to buy back his car. Apparently these are very desired but easier to sell used than new. During that long process of changing both cars, that should have been shorter bur wasn’t, I kept coughing and sneezing, wishing I was home putting the house together. Soon a really bad headache started in my head, which I blamed on allergies, dust from the painters, stress from the week, stress from the day, etc.
Finally car process was completed and we had plans to eat out with friends so I’m still blocked from getting the house in order but it was a fun outing, although I kept coughing and sneezing.

Woke up Saturday with a giant full blown cold. Felt like death warmed over and no energy and still blocked from putting the house back in order. Had two Christmas parties to attend and missed both. Didn’t feel the need to spread this awful germ-filled cold.
Terry tried helping out but I told him to wait until I was better. Didn’t really want to have to re-do what he had done.

So Saturday and Sunday were spent feeling awful but resting a lot to mend quickly.

Woke up this morning, feeling pretty good. Have hustled here and hustled there, getting things in order. Bribed Terry to clean up his disastrous office with me, making his favorite meal tonight, braised short ribs and mashed potatoes and darned, if it didn’t work like magic!

I’m grateful for all the words of comfort and suggestions you’ve made to me. Sometimes life just gets a little crazy and becomes too much for me to handle. I’m glad that I usually can handle it. I probably could have handled it better if we’d done a little at a time but it makes sense to get it all done at once. Next time though, I think I will check into the funny farm.

Today has been good. Nothing feels as good as feeling healthy after being sick. I’ve done so many loads of laundry, changed sheets, made those coveted short ribs and all kinds of other stuff, making the path clear for an ordered house soon. Terry is off teaching karate right now, probably dying to get home for his dinner. Maybe tomorrow we’ll hang many paintings to finish the job of making it our home again.

EDIT:
I’m thinking that it’s just possible that instead of a cold, I may have gotten the flu but since I always get a flu shot, maybe that’s why it was so very short. This was different from a cold. I can’t remember not having a cold where I didn’t end up blowing my nose for a good two weeks even after I thought it was gone. And I sure don’t have that this time. I looked it up and you can get the flu even with a flu shot but it will be very mild. hmmm….
I always get a flu shot since it seemed like I would come down with the flu either around Thanksgiving or Christmas. Since getting the flu shot annually, that doesn’t happen anymore. And I say Amen.

Your lucky your germs went away quickly. I’m still fighting my germs that someone so unkindly shared with me. My fight includes an antibiotic. I guess it is the season for germs. I’m sure you’ll be enjoying the freshly painted house and everything will be where it belongs. It sounds nice.

I’m glad you are better now. Thanks for checking on me. I’m okay, just don’t seem to have any words right now. I hope to get my thoughts and voice back soon. much love to you, Susan

Except for the cold, it sounds wonderful!

Glad the house is back in order and that cold is history. You just have to speak a man’s language to get things done!!

hubbub down with the flu i think; first flu/illness in 12 years if you don’t count his heart operation. just not like him. my prob will be getting him to stay off work. obviously we two come from different worlds lol–encouraging that you’re better in two days; i’ll tell him

Wish the needed interior painting was done at my house. I’m afraid to start because it opens up the whole can of worms…first the ceiling has to be mended, etc. Perhaps after the first of the year.

Maybe it was a light flu. G had that too. Yes, making the house yours again is always fun tho tiring. Yes too, check into a spa next time you do this all-at-once- stuff. That’s a harrowing experience. Hugs…….

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I can’t function if my house isn’t in order. That’s the thing I hate most about moving.

Promise me short ribs and mashed potatoes and I’ll follow you anywhere…

Good to hear things are getting back to normal and the “cold” didn’t last long. I bet you’re right – it was a touch of the flu.

Happy Holidays to you and yours. Sure hope you are better now.
