Oh, that poor dog! Yes, the equivalent of lettng a toodler run beside a road. My heart was in my mouth till I read that the dog wasn’t badly hurt. I so hope that its owner has now learnt a lesson. RYNs; I usually read my notes by going to “Notes by Time” and it was a lovely surprise to find your notes on back entries when I checked this morning! Thank you! I’d assumed everyone does this (checks “notes by time”) but discovered my mistake when I once left a note on some back entry and the writer didn’t find it for weeks!
some folks are so stupid when it comes to their furry kids. that poor dog could have been killed!!! this makes me mad too, to think the owner was so blatantly irresponsible. thankfully the dog was not badly hurt. wouldn’t surprise me if the dog is still allowed off the leash when she recovers. i hope that’s not the case. previous entry about the mattress made me chuckle!
I’m glad the dog received only minor injuries. I hope the vet gave the guy a good lecture and I hope he’ll learn from this.

ugh, that thud, yet dogs seem to be particularly resistant. Many moons ago my then boyfriend hit a dog in the car. We didn’t see it in the dark until it was too late. We hit it from behind as it was running up the road, it went under the car and then got up and climbed in with me when I opened the door. We drove it straight to the vets who located the owner from the electronic chip. I still remember that thud. Glad this dog was ok too. Also wanted to say that I love the way you read back and leave notes on older entries. I use All Notes so I never miss them and they make me smile.
I use all Notes so I don’t miss anything! What an irresponsible man! That poor dog could have been killed and he was lucky that she was only slightly injured.
I was thinking of the car driver too – what was the effect on him/her? You do wonder don’t you. I like reading whole chunks of diaries from the start – but always use the Notes by Time to pick up any older ones – if there are I have to go back to see what I wrote sometimes
My brother’s dog, a Shetland Sheepdog, used to love to root around in his waste baskets. She dug up used kleenexes like they were truffles. Then she’d shred them and leave them on the floor as if they belonged there. It was funny to hear my brother rant at her about it because she obviously didn’t care about his opinion on the tissue issue.
that is terrible hope the dog is OK, I think it is true that there are no bad dogs, just bad owners. I always check the note feature first so the newer notes pop up to the top but yeah if you don’t do that you would probably never know if you got a new note on an older entry.
So irresponsible! Hope the dog is going to be alright. 🙁

I live in Victorian village an area of Columbus oh– my tastes run to the old the antique and considering I inherited most of all my dead relatives stuff– it all fits together lolol I’ve read that all yellow males are the sweetest in disposition and have found it true in several I knew including our Butter– daughter dressed him in baby doll clothes and he was the epitome of patience with her– to this day I miss him
The man wouldn’t have been so fortunate had I been here, but I think it’s fine the way you handled it. If you see him again, with his poor pooch off lead, I suspect he’ll get an earful! Now go feed your poor cat! *wink* (Once I start yelling, I can’t stop! tsk)

I would have given this man so much grief had I been there. I agree letting a dog off the lead while walking is totally irresponsible. I have a trained service dog and even with all his training there are situations that trigger misbehavior, like a squirrel. The point, one can not predict animal behavior and must therefore take all precautions. Glad the dog is well. Throw the owner under the bus!
Might have done him some good to hear what you think. It sounds like a horrible experience for you and the dog. I always check my notes a second time, using ‘Notes by time’. That will bring thm up if they are on old entries. I know what you mean about it being better to read notes in context though.
AAGGHH!!! What is WRONG with people?!?!?! When Baker B’s mom fell due to his idiot cousin letting the dog they were dog-sitting race unleashed out of the car and onto her porch (as they pulled their car around to a spot where she couldn’t see it, so she had NO idea whose dog it was), the dog could just as easily have dashed into the very busy road she lives on. People can be amazingly irresponsible. I’m so glad the poor dog was (hopefully) ok. I always look at the notes link — very recently one of my other favorites mentioned that she always looks at the notes on the entry instead of the notes by time, and I was astonished– how does she not miss notes?? I’m constantly getting behind and leaving notes on older entries!
