Movie Commentary on The Hangover
Last night, my wife and went and watched The Hangover. It was definitely very funny. Some great lines like, "I didn’t know they gave away rings at the Holocaust." The guy who played Alan in the movie was hilarious. Very funny. There were some parts that were a bit much for my moral compass, but hey, I live in the world and am not of it.
Overall though, one of the things I think movies like this do is kill young men’s concept of marriage. The whole general idea was that your life as a man ends when you are married so lets have your last real night of life. This is a lie, and needs to be labeled as such. Most men are afraid of marriage and babies, but they need to suck it up and be men. So you might not be familiar in the world of swaddling blankets, LEGO toys, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wow Wow Wubbzy or birthday parties, who cares. This is not the end of life. This is life. God called you to be fruitful and multiply, and instead of avoiding marriage and kids, you need to tackle it head on.
Movies like the Hangover, while very funny do a horrible job of training men in how they should live. My fear is that this younger generations is ruled by this mindset.
