Custom Raffle Tickets for Fundraising

In these tough economic times, everyone is taking a blow (well, except maybe the government).  But all across America, families are tightening their belts and trying to find ways to trim costs.  Unfortunately, this hurts non profit organizations greatly in their ability to raise money.  The sad thing is that these organizations are doing excellent work and they need the money.  So, what’s the answer?

I think one of the best ways to make money, even in an economic downturn, is to hold a raffle.  Why?  People love to win prizes!!!  This basic human instinct is even heightened when they are down on their luck.  People think, here’s a chance at a great gift or prize and they go for it.  So, all you need to do is a little leg work to collect the prizes.  They can really be anything.  A raffle prize could be a weekend getaway, a free car wash, a Marine Corps ring or other nice jewelry, gift certificates to restaurants, or even a new car.  Think through your audience when securing prizes.  Veterans would love a military ring.  Moms would love a pedicure or jewelry.  Pending on how good of a prize you can get of course greatly affects the number of tickets you’ll be able to sell.  But you’ll be surprised at how many business owners are willing to participate with a donation because it is excellent advertising for them.  All you have to do is ask!

Once you secure your prize or prizes, the next step is raffle ticket printing, and it’s easier than ever.  This company allows you to customize your raffle tickets with all of the information you need right on the ticket.  Not only that, but if you’re in a jam, they even have next day delivery.  Pretty nice.  Don’t bother messing with raffle ticket templates, they are not worth the headache.

A great local raffle that happens every year in my area is the Ruth Lyons foundation.  They sell 8,000 $100 tickets for a $450,000 house to give away.  Great idea because people think they have more of a chance, and they’ll pay more for the ticket.

If you work with a non-profit, be sure to think through using a raffle for fundraising.
