What Moves the Earth Around the Sun

I’m still thinking on DePhoMo #6, don’t worry, I haven’t deserted it yet.

I’m in one of those moods where I don’t want to do anything, but at the same time, I don’t want to sit still.  Well, okay, I wouldn’t mind sitting still but I don’t want to sit still and do -nothing.-  I’m thinking about queuing up my crafting for FE and then puttering around till Mom gets up.  Maybe finally sit down and start the editing to my story.  Everything’s cool in the house, the electric’s fine, the heater’s fine, except I don’t think the heater’s really working all that well… my hands are still really cold.  Oh well, it’s a lot better than it was, and we do have the space heater too.  The electric b ill’s going to be outragious this winter, but next winter we’re going to take advantage of the woodstove.  Since it should be unburied by that time.

I think I know why I haven’t started the editing process.  I really hate my opening sentence but I can’t figure out how to start the story.  I have to tell myself that I don’t have to come up with what I want it to say yet, I just have to know that I hate it and come up with why I hate it.  Hell, lets be honest, I’m not even sure if I’m sold on the idea of having a binary star system.  I might just cross that out and keep going with just one star.  It’d make it a lot easier.  ::laughs:: I wouldn’t have to try to figure out how having the second star would affect gravitational fields or weather or anything like that.  I might do that, and worse comes to worse, in the next draft I can write it back in. ::snicker::

I do want to get someone to draw/color/paint/etc. a picture for the cover of the novel.  Even if it doesn’t get published, I would like that, if for no other reason than it’d be a good collectible for me, something to say "Yes, I completed NaNoWriMo, I even finished my story," y’know?  I was talking to Scott about having one of his friends do it, but he hasn’t gone anywhere with that.  I was thinking about Jen-chan, but she’s not at her strongest with landscapes, and I see this picture as mostly landscape with two figures in the foreground.  Oh well, I’ll figure out something.

I had a dream the other night.  It was one of those dreams that begs to become a story… I have it written down somewehre, just the outline, but it was about a couple.  The woman becomes sick and dies and the man’s lost without her.  He can’t eat, can’t sleep, just mourns the death of his wife.  He honors her final request by burying her ashes on top of a large hill, where the sun would shine all day long, and he would go up there near daily to see her.  One day, he went up to see her, to talk and mourn, and there was a large tree that grew where her ashes were.  He sat under the tree and told her all about his day, about his life.  And the tree would blossom and bloom anytime he came near.

That’s as far as the dream went, but I want to believe that he eventually moved on, that he found someone new and started to live again, and that the tree, the spirit of his dead love, welcomed his joy and knew that no matter what, he would always love her, but he was going to look ahead, as opposed to watching the past. ::shrug:: Sappy love story, but I kind of want to write it all out.

I hate when I don’t like my opening sentence! It becomes such a roadblock. Yes, I have some shitty people in my life right now. The annoying roommate needs to transfer. My uncle needs to realize that I haven’t wasted any time, as the credits I took before still count towards an extra minor. But oh well, I can’t have everything. At least I know what I’m doing. Thanks for the encouragement!

I didn’t know they allowed gamers in Olympia – it’s no Seattle, after all. And the last dream I had that I really wanted to write about was the one in which a zombie plague broke out in the land of faerie tales … the three blind zombie mice and the pig that kept people in dog cages as pets just need a place in print.

What games do you play? I see you have Rifts listed there, I wasn’t aware anyone still played that … I tried it once upon a time but the system never grew on me.
