When I was a kid…

Just incase Wal-Mart isn’t a crazy enough place, now there are kids with those roller sneakers shooting around.  Perhaps it gets them to the part of the store they need to be in (for whatever reason an eight year old has a screaming need to be WAY OVER THERE RIGHT NOW) but it seriously slows the rest of us down.  I had to dodge so many of them yesterday while shopping for Dory’s school stuff…

She leaves tomorrow.  NalGenie is now working and unable to go with Dory and Mom to orientation so I am going to go instead.

The job search is still on, have even more applications out now – hoping for one particular one, cross your fingers for me.  My landlord has decided to be cool and she’s letting me out of my lease and only going to charge me what I owe currently, so if the loan LB is trying to take out for me goes through, I should actually be able to get caught up, pay people back, and start using my money on the current.

I think we should reinstate the barter system.

Now word has it that local gas prices, currently at a not-so-awful $2.85 (scary that I don’t think that’s too awful) are rumored to be going down to under $2 by Christmas.  When I left for college 4 years ago gas prices at the highest (in Virginia) were $1.16.  I’m too young to be saying "those were the good ole days!"

Perhaps I was too optimistic about this year.

Has anyone seen the previews for the coast guard movie coming out?  *sigh*  That’s what I was going to do.  When I was 17-18 I wanted nothing more in the world than to jump out of helicopters into the high seas to save people.  Minor thrill issues, yes.  But how cool would that have been?!  I’ve heard that there are something like 5 female rescue swimmers in the entire coast guard.

Depressing.
