In Truth of Mind

To love you is not to know limits

Of might or mind–mountains are meer rocks to me,

A single step with your heart true

Is a boundless leap beyond the summit.

To love you is to understand beauty,

In eyes, lips, hair, skin: everything Venusian,

But only half as enchanting as the core,

Which shines with cold silver beauty from within.

To love you is to have a desire unquenchable,

Primal lips that demand without mercy for kisses,

Arms bursting with a need to hold and protect,

Dreams that carry on where life leaves off.

To love you is to count the seconds apart with longing,

Forget the deadline for our time together’s end,

Sip from the succulent nectar of life’s true meaning,

To know inside that all these things are but a dream.

To love you is to wait the coward’s hour, seconds slipping

Endless days, hollow monthss, bitter years dropping ‘way

To love you, for me, is bliss in imagination,

But torture in the darkness of this stupid life.

For rejection knows no mercy, gives no quarter,

And Fate is oh so fickle, no matter fortune’s promise,

To know you loathe me is hard enough,

To know this shall always be breaks my heart,

But lo, how sweet you sing in my dreams.
