Good Night Sweet Prince

Good night sweet princes the world over, now in bed.

Rest your weary eyes and lonely head.

It will all be better.

But what do I know more than

I know of whispered songs,

Of love in a smile and love love love,

Of how it sounds in threes and yous and dreams and sighs,

In soft kisses still like the Spring after a gust of wind,

Like loud soft love songs husky in their vintage crackle and lost melodies.

But what do I know more than serious eyes and a serious mind

Set on life and passion and love and something glorious and grand.

Of using my hands,

Of what it is in far off lands that people seek

And they don’t find.

Of wanting to sing so long and so strong,

And dying after a few phrases and listening as they drift into the wind and woods

And fade and dissipate until they no longer exist.

Words are the only matter that can be destroyed,

And yet they are all that matter.

Good night.
