Chapter VI: The Watchers (Cont. II)

Three men travelled through the remote deserts of Borao, a place near the very rim of the Azurat plane. The sandstorms had suddenly died from the land and the three had decided now would be the best time to move on in their journey. They were suddenly stopped however, when they looked down at the ground near them and began to see rune symbols being formed in the very sand. It would not have been a very worrying sight, nor one that the three would have noticed, had it not been for the fact that each rune symbol was twenty yards long and wide.

Blackheart and Adelia pulled themselves out of the sewage canal and sat in the dry sun of a small oasis that had grown. A small pool of fresh water had even sprung, a beauty that few would expect to find so close to a waste canal. Blackheart pulled Adelia over to the water and began to bathe the wound as she groaned in pain. “Go to sleep,” Blackheart whispered as Adelia’s eyes shut slowly. He glanced up at Kiki who was sucking water in through her nose from the pool. He chuckled to himself as he let Adelia lie on the ground and set out to gather some plants to make a fire with. He quickly busied himself with the task as Adelia began to moan in fits of pain.

As Blackheart snatched up the plants and twigs, a figure slowly slid out of her perch in the bushes and disappeared into the rocky wastes beyond the oasis, unseen and unheard by either Blackheart or Kiki.
