Anderson, Card, Dick, King & Van Lustbader

nothing a couple hours spent at the library

its a small library  but it still have a decent selection.

so i picked up another Poul Anderson book since i was talking to shoeshine last night and got to thinking about sci fi because of haredawg.  ive read his book Cradle of Saturn and liked it very much

since im rereading  Orson scott cards  series  Enders Game,  i picked up shadow of the hegemon, i was going to read Harts Hope as well but  someone else picked it up before i did DAMN HER!! LOL

I’m not sure about Phillip Dick  i picked up  his book Do androids Dream of Electric Sheep .. which  became the movie Blade Runner. and something else by him that i dont recall off the top of my head

i finally gave in and picked up another stephen king book as well.  i havent read it yet since ive become rather disenchanted with writing over the last few years.. well for a long time now really..  But i did finish his Dark Tower Serries as soon as he finished writing it and well i cant say  i was dissapointed in it  but neither was i surprised by the ending.

as for eric van Lustbader i just picked up a random book of his and read the flyleaf and it seemed interesting  although  not part of the original series by him that i was reading.  im not sure if hes even written the next book in the Series and i cant for the life of me remember the name of the series but i think one of the books was called Veil of Tears..

i made the mistake of getting sucked into the Wheel of Time series  a few years ago and finally found the most recent instalment  in paperback and since it was only 5$ i figured  id give it a shot. i had decided to not read any more of the series since  Jordan actually stopped advanceing the plot  more then a milimeter at a time round about book 5 or 6.  and hes on book 11 now well 12  now if you count the one hes writing.  i was yet again dissapointed. i think if you can write a book with roughly 500 pages you should be able to advance your damn plot and characters more then 2 steps.  i suppose maybe he wants this to be his magnum opus and good for him if he does  but  IMHO its not that great anymore.  its seems he lost the thread and now hes just tossing out words and ideas in hopes of getting it back.

anyway im off to grab a random book and make some cocoa and see how it turns out.

feel free to recomend a book if you like. ill read just about anything

Namaste

Jordan has been milking that series like crazy. He claims, however, that it will end with the 12th book. Me, I lost patience after 4 or 5, so I’m horrified to read reports taht the series slowed down around book 9 or so. Great. Really. OF course, he’s got a major illness now, so there’s a hopefully small chance that his legions of screaming fans will never know how it ends.

RYNRMN: Hey, I may think his magnum opus is crappy, but I sincerely hope the guy beats the odds and writes a dozen more crappy books.

The one series that was very different that I really enjoyed was Tarot by Piers Anthony. I also liked Four Lords of the Diamond by Jack L. Chalker. Both series might be a bit hard to find (it that’s not meant to ellicit comments about my age Missy!) I’ve gotten rid of SO many books I’ve lost track of many titles I really enjoyed. Oh and the R. Daneel Olivaw books by Isaac Asimov are good too. OX2

in the grand scheme of things ‘Cell’ wasn’t too bad, but it was far from good. i’m relieved to know that someone else is as disillusioned as i am. if you find a good new on would you mind letting me know. i’ve been looking without joy and am thinking of giving up 🙂 good luck x
