The move from hell…
Last time I wrote I was getting ready to move. Here’s a short wrap-up of the going’s-on…
- June 25th- I picked up my OH (other-half) at the Orlando airport. My friend Justin went with me and I dropped him off at his brother’s house (near the airport) and said good bye to him there.
- June 26th- Packing…
- June 27th- Was my birthday. My BFF had a birthday/good-bye party. My OH finally met my friends. We had a great time, and a boobie cake! Said my good byes to everyone.
- June 28th- Truck day! The local place (where I had reserved the truck) calls around 9am to inform me that they had no trucks and transferred my reservation to another truck place half an hour away. No biggie. We get to other place only to find out the first guy screwed up the transfer and the price went up by $200! A call to the company’s customer service assured that the price would be adjusted when the truck was dropped off. Mom, dad, my sister, my BFF, OH, and I got the majority of my stuff loaded into the truck. Looooong day.
- June 29th- More packing and loading.
- June 30th- 11 hour drive here we come! Driving from FL to VA in caravan formation: my parents& sister in their car, me in my car, my OH in the van. Rainstorm in GA, I saw a tractor trailer FLIP OVER on 95 south, ruch hour in Columbia, SC. But otherwise uneventful trip. Arrived at new house in VA around 9pm. Heated up frozen pizzas for dinner. Unloaded some stuff. Passed out around midnight.
- July 1st- Woke up at 6am. House is beautiful, property is gorgeous! Unloaded more stuff. Finished unloading, started unpacking. Landlady came by to sign the lease and stuff. Made something for supper… shopping and whatnot.
- July 2nd- Swept out truck and got ready to take back. Landlady called to say she wanted to meet with us that morning. Explained about returning truck in the am, agreed to meet at 1pm. Took truck back at 11 (at a place almost an hour away), price was indeed adjusted, headed back home. Met with landlady…. She decided to change her mind about renting to people with pets, served us with our 30 day notice to vacate. Trigger anxiety attack… Go home and buy newspaper. Call every single for rent ad in paper, 90% of which were already rented, others wanted no pets or were in a bad area. Made appointment with a woman to look at a duplex the next day…
- July 3rd- My dad’s birthday. Wake up @ 7am. Shower, head out to drive around and call on every "for rent" sign we see. No one’s home cause of the holiday weekend. Got to duplex an hour early, landlady came down to meet with us anyway. Place is completely remodeled, 3br/1ba, 2 story, original hardwood floors upstairs. Gorgeous! Filled out app., credit score, references. She called me back by noon to say she’s approved us and we could move in immediately! Started bringing stuff over. OH called some friends with trucks. Mom & dad went to Wal-Mart at some point to buy dinner stuff and mom snuck off to order a cake for dad. Grilled out for dad’s B-day dinner while guys loaded trucks. Had everything packed, moved, and cleaned by midnight! Spent the night in the new new place!
- July 4th- Took keys back up to old landlady. I told her to have a Happy 4th! She ignored to me… Went to Lowe’s, mom & dad bought me a washer & dryer for my B-day! Went out to dinner with the fam. Had some food, some drinks, more drinks at home, watched the fireworks from the driveway, got sick in the bathroom, OH fell in the driveway and scraped up his forehead, passed out before 1am…
- July 5th- 9am, mom & dad & sister leave. 🙁 9:30, delivery guys show up with washer & dryer. Some other stuff I can’t remember…??? 🙂
- July 6th- Rest! OH’s mom comes for a visit, the his sister & her family stop by. Just a relaxing day.
- July7th- I had to drive my OH back to work i Baltimore, 6 hours away. Had lunch in MD, drove myself home. Got home at 12:15am.
- July 8th- Wake up at 6:30am to be to work at 8:30am. I have to drive 40 minutes to get to work, yuck! Everything went ok I suppose… Work is work!
Yeah… lotsa stuff went on. The first landlady (I use the term lady loosely…) was a bitch from hell. She made life hell for us… But we’re done with her, and never have to see her again. But god help her if I run into her in a dark alley somewhere… But the new landlady is awesome. She & her family are the ones who did the majority of the work in this building. They’re such nice people. Her husband grew up with OH’s dad. I love living here! 🙂
Since then I’ve just been working and chilling. OH & I went to a wedding 2 weeks ago when he was home. Good friend’s of ours got married. It was really nice.
I think that’s it for now! Take care ya’ll!
wow that sucks about the first place

HOLY COW!!! That is just twisted and WRONG that the *stupid ass bitch* and I say that non-loosely – did that!!! There is just so much wrong with that on so many levels!!! ::shakes head:: But I’m so happy you found someone so much better to rent from. I wonder if you can make a complaint with the city board or something about that “landlord” … 🙁
