ally throwing in the towel and pulling the plug on OD.

What a coward.

After years of neglect, he simply throws in the towel. He built something great, and just like that he lets it go. In order to be successful, you have to constantly evolve. What brought success in 1998 is different than what is successful today. It probably wouldn’t have taken much. What it would have taken was more than juat a sideways glance over the last 5 years. He just gave up. And that’s where he failed.

Meh. His life, his failure, whatever. I hate that it’s gone, but it’s kind of like it needed to be done. You can only keep grandma on life support so long.

Luna_Bella on PB. I’m so thankful I’ve found most of my faves there. Reading them has been a big part of my life the last 10+ years.

The last FIVE years??? More like nearly ten years. OD jumped the shark at the point of the 2004 hacker attacks. It was never the same, and never used anywhere near as much, after that point. Just a bunch of stupid and thoughtless rule changes, as we watched it dwindle to where just 5% of all diaries had been updated within 3 months. LOL

Agreed. But at least we can be glad that we don’t have to deal with his absentee neglect anytime in the future.

He didn’t throw it in just like that. It became too expensive and he wasn’t making enough money to keep the servers up as well as not having enough time anymore. Like everything else shit comes to an end.
