I just read on someone’s diary that they can’t believe Wal*Mart is putting Xmas stuff up already, and that they’re "taking down Halloween stuff to put up Xmas".

Wal-Mart doesn’t "take anything down" to put something else up, in the sense of getting rid of the former to make room for the latter. They receive a set amount of seasonal items in every store. That’s all they receive. As the season or holiday draws near, the merchandise begins to sell out, as they don’t receive more, just the set amount. So they’re not getting rid of Halloween to put out Xmas, they’re Selling Out of Halloween and have to replace it with something else. Xmas is the something else. Do you want to walk into a store and see giant empty counters and aisles?

And Wal*Mart wouldn’t be putting out Xmas right now if there wasn’t a demand for it. Believe me, people are buying it up. If you want a good selection of Xmas goodies (decorations & such) shop NOW! They onle receive again, a set amount of seasonal merchandise. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. Sometimes they get the same thing next season, more often than not they don’t. If you see it and want it, buy it. If you don’t do it right then & there, it may be gone.

I get very tired of working so hard in my store & all I hear is customers bitch & complain. Walk a mile in our shoes. Cater to every social degenerate that walks in those front doors & see if you can be miss Mary Sunshine 8-12 hours a day. If one person ticks you off in the store, go through the proper channels to say something about it. Don’t just assume everyone there is an asshole just because 1 person was having a bad day.

And try being nice once in a while. Sometimes I wonder why I work so hard, just to be treated like I’m lower than dirt because I work there. Hey, I Have A Job! It’s called respect! I work hard at my job, and I think I derserve some kind of respect. I’m doing the things I need to do at my job: following rules & laws & being productive. Doing the things I need to do to keep my job.

I’m sorry I can’t sell you 10 bottles of cough medicine, it’s a safeguard put into place so someone else can’t make illegal drugs out of it & sell it to your kids. I’m sorry I don’t have your dandruff shampoo instock. The company who makes it is changing packaging on it & our warehouse hasn’t received the new product from that company yet. No, your son can’t climb on the shelving to reach for the new Power Ranger action figure. I don’t want to see your child hurt. Please ask me to get it for him, I would be more than happy to. I run this department. I know my merchandise. I do not have it in the back. I’m not just telling you that to get you out of my way. I spent the first 2 hours of my shift working in the back, bringing out the merchandise I need. I know what’s back there. And I know what isn’t.

And just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I can’t help lift that piece of furniture. And it certainly doesn’t mean I don’t know what I’m talking about.
