He’s the sweetest! *E for a Q

I have been feeling really bummed out this Holiday Season. It’s the first Christmas in a long time I haven’t had a touch of Christmas Spirit in me. I’ve even threatened to cancel Christmas at my house.

Work has been insane! Yes, I work in retail and that is to be expected. But this is Christmas #10 I’ve spent with this company, and I’ve never felt so abused before. I have Sunday off next week (weeks run Sat-Fri), and then I don’t have another day off until Christmas day. Then I’ll have to go in to work Christmas night. And it’s been like this since before Thanksgiving. There’s more than the scheduling, but I won’t bore ya’ll with my whining. It’s just awful.

My family is going to be 600 miles away for Christmas. It’s not the first holiday season I’ve spent without them. I was living in Pittsburgh for Christmas in 2001. But I don’t remember being this upset about it back then… It’s just really hit me hard this year. I’m probably never going to see my family for Christmas again. Not with our jobs. Unless my family moves up this way, which they’ve talked about doing, which I’ll believe it when I see it…

So I came home from work this evening and walked in the front door and saw this:

Complete with black and white kitty underneath! Well, he’s always been here! LoL Danny went out this morning and picked us out the cutest tree I think I’ve ever seen! It is so perfect for us! It’s helping put me in a little more festive mood already!

His birthday is tomorrow, and I’ve been wanting to get him something he’d love for a gift. I went to the music shop after work to look at guitar amps, but I really had no idea which one he’d like to have. So after I got home, (and squeed about my tree!) we rode down there and got to looking. He tried out a few amps and found one that he loved! The price tag on it was $239. Ouch… I told him it’d be his birthday & Christmas gift combined, but it’s his. Well, Danny knows the guy who runs the music shop. He told the salesman to give it to us for $135! My jaw about hit the floor! I was thinking maybe he’d knock it down to $200. I love living in a small town!

I need to take my viola in there soon and see what they can do about getting it back in shape again. It’s not damaged or anything. But it needs new strings, the ones on it are over 12 years old. And my bow needs rehaired, I opened the case today and about half of the hairs have broken. I’ve been thinking about playing a little again. It’s definitely something I’d love to pass on to my children someday.

But I really do love my fiance! Whenever I get to feeling bad about myself, or anything really, he does something to pick me back up! He really is the sweetest!

*Edit- I’m having a party tomorrow night for his birthday. There’s gonna be lotsa people and lotsa beer involved. I’ve already asked him what kind of food he wants to have and all I can get out of him is he wants Lil Smokies. Anyone have any other suggestions? I won’t have a whole lot of time to cook. I’m looking for finger type foods! Any suggestions would be much appreciated! kthnxbye!

cheese sausage and crackers are always good, same with a veggie tray with dips, chips & salsa or cheese dip. Crackers with spreadable cheese. Pizza? you could throw some stuff in a crockpot like ham or roast beef for hot sandwhiches.

A very pretty tree:) Simple foods can be chips and dip, finger sandwiches (always thought that was a funny name lol), mini corn dogs etc.
