I’ll probably have an interview at work tomorrow for a new position. It’d be a raise in pay, and weekends off, and 40 hours a week. I’m very much looking forward to it. And I’m scared shitless too. These interviews suck, and I suck at interviewing. As soon as I step into the office, anything intelligent escapes me. They’re all situational questions, "Tell me about a time when…" Ugh, not looking forward to it. But, I think I’m the only one who applied for the job anyways… I’m the only one stupid enough to want to do it. *sigh* I neeeeeeed to stay full time, or I wouldn’t bother with it. I know I can do the job, I just gotta jump in and do it I guess. Maybe crack a few heads in the process…
No fire tonight. 🙁 But, it’s still 48 degrees outside. I just have the heaters on in the living room and Jenna’s room. Her room gets so cold at night, poor baby. Next year we need to get new windows in this house. The windows are so old, except our room & Jenna’s room. And they’re crappy, at best. The things the previous owners did to this house…. Like leaving hideous wallpaper in the bathroom. ::shudder:: Every time I’m spending time in the bathroom I daydream about ripping that shit off the walls. It’s seriously hideous, to the point of nauseating. I’ll have to post a picture of it sometime. In the kitchen they put up thick textured wallpaper with a rooster border on top of it right above the chair rail. Well, the chair rail is nailed on top of the border. O.o The thick paper was peeling off the walls when we moved in, I finally tore it down a few months ago. Now I have to finish getting the little bits off the walls, spray texture them, and paint! And a new light fixture cause it’s srsly dark in there with one light bulb in the center of the room.
Then there’s the wood paneling…. oh my. It’s in every room except the bathroom and kitchen. It’s really durable, which will be good with kids growing up. But it is sooooooo dark. Every room in the house is dark, and I feel like I live in a tree. I am not a squirrel, thankyouvewrymuch. I really want to paint the paneling. Our apartment had painted paneling, and it looked surprisingly good. There is just so much of it in this house, it’s a daunting task. I think the paneling is what I like least about my house. I love my kitchen cabinets and my basement.
Oh yeah, my basement. It’s 2/3 finished, carpeted and paneled. But paneling is acceptable in a basement! That’s where the wood stove is, and it’s where our roommate lives. Philip is Danny’s best friend. They’ve been friends since they were 10. Philip & I share a birthday, along with another one of Danny’s friends, Zach. Strange, huh? But Philip moved in with us this past summer. He’s had a hard time getting enough work around here to make decent money, and couldn’t really afford rent anywhere. And rent around here is disgustingly cheap. But he was staying in his truck, and when he had his daughter on weekends they’d "go camping". It broke our hearts to know one of our friends had to live like that. He never asked for help, we offered. We just couldn’t have a good friend being homeless if we could help. So we asked him to come stay with us until he could get situated again. He can’t pay rent, but he helps out around the house a lot. He kept the yard mowed all summer, and we borrow his truck if we need to hail something. And he keeps Danny entertained for me. 😀 He’ll keep the fire going when he’s home this winter. He’s really not home much, either out working or running the roads on the weekends. I never know he’s here unless I see his truck. And it hasn’t cost us any more money having him here. And the security that I’m not coming home to an empty house is nice also. So there’s that.
Good luck!

WOW I had no idea you had a roomate that blows my mind!! Usually having someone live with you is a huge pain in the ass, or so I’ve heard the stories. It’s great that you are doing this for him!! 🙂
