trippin’

with recent medical clearance for long distance travelling, and great results in phyisical therapy, i’m excited on many levels. i get to advance to outdoor biking and running soon. mmmmman, that’s going to feel good. there aren’t many people who know how involved i get into my biking, or can know. it’s been a religion of mine since training wheels.
later today i’m headed up to NYC: first semi-spontaneous road trip in a long time. first time to NYC in almost 2 years. I took the day off to see Richard Julian (awesome singer/songwriter from New York who I’ve met through Rachel Loshak shows) at the XPN Free at Noon. it’ll be a good warm-up for wandering the Village tonight. lunch, and some quick interaction with any friends who might be there.

part of my trip is being paid by credit from Amtrak- they cancelled a train that caused me a fiasco during holiday travel. and overlapping all this is some long overdue internal closure of a painful period that had a deeply powerful, negative effect on me- but I managed to turn it around, and harness the good out of it. It was a tough challenge, but I am now thankful for it: I’m so much stronger now- inside and out.

when a lot of things come together at once, and you see some grand and lasting benefits of recent hardships, it’s a wonderful feeling.

something i wrote last year has been spinning around in my head a lot lately…

“Live. Love. Lose.
Welcome empty spaces.
Growth needs room.”

room has been been made for something new; time taken to reflect, dream; momentum is solidly in a forward, upward direction.

’06 is off to a good start.

peace

Surgery on a back is so iffy. Some people have spectacular results, others so-so, others wonder why they did it at all. I can’t help but think physical therapy and determination play a role. I’m so glad you had the spectacular result and you are now heading back into your full, full life. Good job!
