Goodbye to a Friend
I’m not sure how many of you know this about me, but I am a VERY musical person and my music of choice is the blues. Not because it is depressing as many believe, but because it is so very uplifting.
One of the women I admire most in the genre is Ruth Brown, maybe not so much for her life or her accomplishments, but for her voice. Her lovely voice that speaks to my soul and soothes. Her voice that makes me smile, makes me rowdy, and sometimes speaks for me when I cannot speak for myself. I consider her a friend for those reasons, and for those reasons I mourn her passing and celebrate her life. God bless Ruth, I know there are folks that say it is about time you got home, but your time here was all too short for me.

I can’t say that I’ve ever heard of her. However; though, I will say if you enjoyed her very much then you would like music by Nina Simone. One of my favorites is “I put a spell on you” Check it out…I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I do.
