Freezin My Arse Off!

Cold nuff for ya?

Yeah, I am still in Chicago for a bit.  I gotta tell ya, this sucks! LOL

I have no heater in my car, it keeps overheating, so I have to pull over, and my commute is an hour on a good day.  I also have to keep my defroster on, on high, for the ride so that it keeps ice from forming on the windshield from my breath.  If you want a taste of what this experience is like, go ahead and get in your car (but only in the Chicago/Millie area will this work), leave the heat off and crack both windows about an inch (so the wind speed is right) and drive down the highway.  Then, every 15 minutes or so, pull over, open the windows all the way and turn off the car, then sit for 15 minutes.  Do all this with only a scarf for a hat and no gloves…you will get some idea of what my commute is like.  Oh yeah, you have to do this for 90 minutes to get the full effect.

LOL

Needless to say, tonight I brought my ice fishing suit to work (good to -35) and wore 2 pairs of socks.  I also managed to scrape up a glove which means I will at least have some protection on the hand on the steering wheel.  I should fare much better on the way home today that is for sure!

I went out on my break to put some antifreeze and water in the radiator.  As I was putting in fluid, I could hear it gushing out the bottom so I am hoping that is where the pressure released from overheating and not that I have to replace the top of my motor again.  I think that will be the case, that a hole opened in the radiator and not that I warped the heads, so I should have a pretty cheap repair to fix all this.  From what I hear on the weather reports, it should warm up to almost freezing tomorrow, YAAAY!, which means I can do the work without losing any more toes.

When I got home from work this morning, I had frostbite on all my toes and the tops of my feet where the air was getting in, hence the 2 pairs of socks 😉

Anyway, I found this all highly amusing, so I thought I would share.  Thank goodness I am off tomorrow and can get all this done.

The moral of the story?  Don’t put off what you can do…you might find yourself even worse off than you were!  LOL
