Stay
I would never ask you to stay
I’d push you away and hope that you saw through
Past the dry eyes to the tears beneath
Through this smile to the sorrow and longing behind.
I’d cry when you left
Annoyed at my inability to be true
To myself, to you
The mistakes we make
I’d open the door and ask you to leave
I’d slam it behind you and sink to my knees
Lost in this mind
A longing to have no fear
But there as I watch you walk away
The tears blurring the edges of your frame
My heart is screaming for you not to leave
The silence in my mind deafens me
And there as you go, my words remain unsaid…
..The longing…the longing simply…remains…
