She Was Able to Say Goodbye

Only two more days until Dori and I head on up to Oregon.  I’m so excited!  Well kinda excited.  I’m sure it will be way fun.  Jacob and I have only had a couple of conversations where he wasn’t too keen on my going, but when all is said and done… I’M GOING!  LOL  He’ll just have to deal.  And yeah… it might not be the most ideal timing, but sometimes you just gotta go with it.

Still haven’t heard anything back from the scrapbooking store, but I’m not going to give up hope on that.  I’m going to either call again tomorrow or stop in and bug the lady until she interviews me.  LOL

Unfortunately, I’m sad to report, that Ron isn’t going to be with us too much longer if he hasn’t actually already passed on.  They ended up delaying taking him off of life support until yesterday evening.  Vicki emailed me to tell me that she was on her way down to Texas.  His family was gracious and kind enough to wait for her to get there so that she could see him and say goodbye.  I have to say that I’m amazed.  His family didn’t even know her.  Not really anyway.  But she called me last night and told me that she made it down there.  They shared his last moments with her; allowed her to spend time with him alone.  She called me last night to tell me what it was like, and from talking to her I could tell that she is much more at peace now.  Much more than I would ever be.  I am so thankful that she was able to see him… to say goodbye.

After she got there and spent some time with him, they unhooked him from all of the life support other than oxygen and a morphine drip to make things more comfortable to him.  The doctors said it would probably only be a number of hours, and then he would quit breathing on his own.  I’m not sure if that’s happened yet, but from what she told me, I’m pretty sure that he has probably passed on now.  I love my aunt so much, and I feel so bad that she is going through this.  It doesn’t seem real to me at times.  I mean I know it is, but if just seems like the type of situation that happens on t.v. or in the movies; not to anybody that you know.

Well I gotta go wake Jacob up and get ready for church.  Oh yeah… his dad and Esther are back from Columbia.  We are supposed to be going over there after church today.  I’m pretty excited for that.  I missed his dad!
