People Make Me Sick

I’ve been debating on whether or not to even attempt to comment on the following topic, as I have a VERY strong opinion on this matter, and don’t really feel like hearing the bull-shit excuses that people keep giving trying to justify decisions that are being made.  I’m sure that everyone, or a at least quite a few people have heard of what is going on with Terri Schiavo.  She is a 41 year old severely brain damaged woman, who is being starved to death because of the inhumane decisions being made on her behalf right now.

I STRONGLY believe that what is happening right now is not only wrong on all levels, but it is also something that goes to show how pathetic the human race has become.  To think that just because somebody is not communicating on OUR level and may never be 100% again is reason enough to starve them to death is so extremely sad to me that it literally makes me feel sick to my stomach.  People are using this poor woman and her family to make an example of her, that it is important to document or provide a living will.  Well on that part, they have succeeded.  But it is time now for these people to pull their heads out of their asses and wake up and realize what they are doing is murder.

It would be a completely different story IF Terri was on complete life support.  Meaning… machines breathing for her and completely brain dead.  But that’s not the case!!!!  She breathes on her OWN!!!  She ONLY needs food and water to keep her alive!!!  You don’t just STOP feeding someone because they can’t fend for themselves!!!!  God has kept her alive for this long for a reason.  Because it is NOT her time to go.  God has allowed her to BREATHE on her own, to survive for a reason.  And to think that nobody wants to see this is extremely disappointing.  I think this is a test from above for us as a human race and as Americans, and unfortunately we are on a fast track to failing this test.

If you agree with me on this issue, and are interested in finding out more information and possibly signing a petition on Terri’s behalf for her right to live, please go to terrisfight.org.  If you don’t agree with me…

I’ll be praying for you.

I don’t really feel like I know enough about this case to form a valid opinion. There are just too many variables. But there was something that struck me in your entry. I found it interesting when you said how ‘pathetic the human race has become’. The fact that she has been kept alive so many years is actually a fairly modern and humane attitude. Centuries of civilizations would have left her…

…to die long ago. That isn’t making a case for the removal or replacement of the feeding tube. Just some food for thought. 🙂

i completly agree with you. it seems cruel and unusual to me, and she’s not even a criminal. if she was brain dead or could not breathe on her own. but yes, she is literlly being starved to death. although, i’m not a religous person, so basically i feel he has nothing to do w/, i think it’s just the dumb society we live it that has #$%^ed this woman over. p.s. how did she get that way in 1st place

think of it this way…if you worked in a retirement home and you stopped feeding the elderly patients and they starved to death, you would be sent to jail. so, if he wants his wife to starve, let him spend some time in jail.
