Love Dare ~ Day 1

I  went out and bought  The Love Dare yesterday afternoon.   I already knew what the first dare was, but since I don’t see Jacob until later in the day anyway, I didn’t have to do much of anything until he got home.  The book suggests that you keep a journal at the end of each day to note any progress or changes that you might see as you complete each day.  I’m a stickler for not writing in books, so I decided I’m going to do the journaling here.  =)  What better use of my OD space right?   So…

DAY 1 ~ LOVE IS PATIENT

"THE FIRST PART OF THIS DARE IS FAIRLY SIMPLE.  ALTHOUGH LOVE IS COMMUNICATION IN A NUMBER OF WAYS, OUR WORDS OFTEN REFLECT THE CONDITION OF OUR HEART.  FOR THE NEXT DAY, RESOLVE TO DEMONSTRATE PATIENCE AND TO SAY NOTHING NEGATIVE TO YOUR SPOUSE AT ALL.  iF THE TEMPTATION ARISES, CHOOSE NOT TO SAY ANYTHING.  IT’S BETTER TO HOLD YOUR TONGUE THAN TO SAY SOMETHING YOU’LL REGRET."

Did anything happen today to cause anger toward your mate?

  • Yesterday was the first day in I don’t know how long where we didn’t have one single argument.  =)

Were you tempted to think disapproving thoughts and to let them come out in words?

  • Last night while we were watching a movie, Jacob said a couple of things that I normally probably would have snapped at.  He tried to accuse me of something stupid, and I didn’t say anything.  I didn’t exactly ignore him, but I didn’t respond in a way that was negative at all.

Day one was successful.  You’ve gotta start somewhere right?  And as volatile as my marriage has become, taking this day by day approach may be the only way to mending things right now.

So now I’m on day two.

Day 2 ~ LOVE IS KIND

"IN ADDITION TO SAYING NOTHING NEGATIVE TO YOUR SPOUSE AGAIN TODAY, DO AT LEAST ONE UNEXPECTED GESTURE AS AN ACT OF KINDNESS."

I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet.  Probably clean the room a bit.  I’ve never been much of a house cleaner.  I’m not going to lie.  I’m a messy person at home, and Jacob is always complaining about how I don’t do anything.  Maybe he’s right.  Maybe I’ll step it up a notch.  It’s not like I have anything else to do.  I’ll write later tonight or tomorrow about the outcome of today’s dare.

Laters,
JamieLynn =)

yeah i think it would be a huge shock then if he came home and the house was tip top. he’d probably wonder why, but in the end just have a better attitude toward you. 🙂
