I Can See Clearly Now…
I’m such a slacker when it comes to taking care of the important things in life, like oh let’s just say my eyes. After waiting for way too long to get my eyes rechecked, and wearing the bejeezus out of my contacts, I finally had to break down and get my eyes checked last night. I had actually been so bad as to wear just one contact for a duration of time, because I kept putting of setting an appointment. Because of my stupidity, I have now messed up my right eye, causing a slight stigmatism that hopefully will go away after several sessions of eye drops over the next week and a half. As of last night, the eye doctor said I would have to have glasses until my eye had a chance to heal a bit.
I had every intention of getting glasses anyway. I have the tendency to run out of contacts and/or use them for too long because I don’t have a new pair to put in. I haven’t had glasses for years to fall back on when I would run low on contacts, so I was looking forward to having glasses anyway. That was until I found out how hackin’ much glasses cost. Goodness gracious!!! I almost went into a panic attack last night once all was said and done. After eye exam, eye drops, frames and lenses, I ended up spending about $365. GAH!!!!
I like the glasses though. I think they look pretty good on me. Jacob loves them. LOL I must have looked like a new woman when I came home last night. He couldn’t help but get frisky with me. =) So far everyone else has said that they liked the glasses too. Rosie even said that she thinks I look better with glasses. Hmmm… That’s good I guess. I am going to still get contacts once my eyes heal from their mistreatment, but at least I’ll have glasses to fall back on when needed. I’ll try and remember to post a picture one of these days.
Life has been keeping me quite busy as of late. Jacob and I went up to his mom’s this past weekend. Not exactly how I would have chose to spend my free time, but oh well. Since we were going up there, I decided I had better hurry up and make a baby blanket for Zane and Kadee’s new baby that should be here any day now. The blanket turned out really good. I haven’t heard yet what Kadee thought of it. I hope she liked it.
So one thing that I did get to do this weekend was completely lay into Jacob’s family about all the b.s. that they have been putting each other through. Shawn and Seth came back from Nebraska around mid-summer. The plan was for them to stay with Mary for about 2 weeks and then have a place of their own. Well… that didn’t happen. Here it is 4 months later and low and behold they are still living with Mary. HOWEVER… the situation isn’t bad because of just that. It’s bad because of Mary. She is first of all one of the biggest drama queens I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can’t help but think that she invites the drama into her life so that she can thrive off of it.
After much discussion (way too much for me to be able to quickly post in this entry), I told Mary that if she is feeling so horribly disrespected in her own house that she needs to set a date by which Shawn and Seth need to move out by. She also needed to sit an make a list of the top things that Shawn and Seth were doing that she felt was disrespecting her so that they could in turn fix whatever it was that was pissing her off. She sat and rolled her eyes and humphed and grumped, but when it came down to it, everything that I said was true. Both Mary and Shawn knew that what I was saying was right and probably the only way to fix it. I made a point to both of them that they needed to really pick their battles wisely instead of using the petty shit they had been using against each other.
Above all though, I made sure that the main message that got through to them this weekend was that before anything else, they all needed to turn to God. They needed to surrender all of their burdens and troubles to the Lord. Quit trying to control everything that had been going on, and just let it go.
Surprisingly, when all had been said and done, everyone had shut up long enough for Jacob and I to say what we had to say. They seemed to actually take into consideration what we said to them, and by the time we left on Sunday night, the house seemed to be just a little bit more at peace. I pray that they take what I told them and use it to the best of their ability instead of just turning their backs and going on about their lives the same way.
Well… I really do need to get going. It’s been so long since I’ve written and I’m sure that there are piles of things that I’m overlooking, but I have to get going. I have bible study tonight at Christy’s. Can’t wait to see what the girls think of the glasses. =)

Amusing. I have freakign glaucoma and I am now, oh about 2-years past due for a check up and I don’t take my drops either because my script ran out. Meh. Glasses ARE expensive. I’ve chatted up my eye doctor’s girls for years now and now they let me order my lenses and glasses at their cost, secretly of course. But even still, outrageous!
