Five Twenty Oh Nine
While doing my job search today, I came across a posting for a job that I interviewed for a couple of months ago. Seems that the person that they hired didn’t work out, so now they are hiring again. I can’t help but think, "See what happens when you don’t hire me." LOL But maybe this is a second chance for me to get the job. I called the business to see if they kept resumes on file of if I needed to resubmit my resume again. I probably should have just emailed it again without asking, but oh well. What’s done is done.
I forgot to write about the backpacking trip that I’m going on in October. My friend Gina asked if I’d be interested in going on a three day backpacking trip in Big Sur to the hot springs. I decided that it is a good motivation for me to drop some weight and get in shape. I’m also doing a Biggest Loser type challenge over on the SparkPeople website. This is the first week, and so far so good. I’m focusing on what I’m eating during the day and making sure to drink piles of water. I need to add in the exercise now too. There is also a new group being put together by Christy that is going to focus on accomplishing goals and helping one another stay accountable throughout the week. That is what I really need. Somebody to help keep me accountable. For some reason I struggle with staying accountable to myself. If I’m part of a team though, or if it is a competitive situation, I do much better. Because let’s face it, who wants to be the one that doesn’t do anything on the team?
So I have a lot to look forward to and accomplish this summer. It will be good.
I think they are done with all the work that was being done in our bathroom. Other than actually putting in the washer and dryer. Oh how I would love for the washer and dryer to actually be installed. I keep hoping that they accidently put them in so that I can do a ton of laundry and then tell management that we didn’t request it. LOL Doubt it will happen though. I did promise Jacob last night that if we get the washer and dryer put in that he would never have to do laundry again. We both hate having to go across the apartment complex to do laundry every other day. It gets old. It would and will be nice when we finally are able to do it in the comfort of our own apartment. It will be like having a whole new wardrobe again. LOL We usually wash what we need for a few days, but some laundry never seems to get done. And I know that a lot of stuff will be washed and sent to Goodwill too, in turn freeing up tons of space.
My birthday is this Sunday. I’ll be 28. Again. =) Right now we don’t have any big plans. It doesn’t look like the Tahoe trip is going to happen. I’m really not too upset about it though. Actually I could care less. LOL There is just too much going on financially that it would be stupid of us to go. It would be stupid for Jacob’s mom to go too. Which reminds me, I’m supposed to be looking online for prices on rooms and such. I seem to have forgotten. We just don’t have the money to go this month. I told Mary that maybe we could go in the middle of June instead, but going at the end of May would just be stupid of us. Yet I have a gut feeling that Jacob is going to want to try and pull it off anyway. He’s stubborn like that.
I finally got the Netflix movie that I’ve been holding onto for the past month sent out today. Which reminds me, I need to go update my list and figure out what I want them to send tomorrow.
My life is boring! Maybe I’ll go for a walk.
RYN: These days, even venting won’t be enough to get the job situation out of one’s system! You keep venting all you like! And my encouragement is genuine. When I applied for a teaching job in 1978, I was told–smugly–that there was a glut of teachers on Long Island and I had no chance. But I kept at it and got a job. Never give up! Never surrender!

You’re putting a washer and dryer in your bathroom? Interesting. As for backpacking, I will not agree to any activity that requires me to carry more than a camera.

RYN: Twenty pounds or less would make sense if you’ve got to schlep the backpack over miles of wild terrain. I, on the other hand, will no longer carry ANYTHING on my back.
