First Entry of 2010

How sad is it that it’s already January 26th, and I haven’t even written an new entry for since December 17th of last year!?  LOL  It’s been so long ago now that I’m not even going to bother with trying to update on everything that has happened since then.  It would be pretty much impossible.  So I guess I’ll just write about the things that are at the top of my mind and go from there.

Things at work are insane right now!  We are currently required to work 10+ hour days until the winter rush finally ends.  I have my fingers crossed that we are at the tail end if it all now.  My next paycheck will probably have about 44+ hours in overtime on it.  To be honest, I think I’m the only one in Customer Service who isn’t complaining about the OT.  LOL  The other girl that they hired at the same time as me is literally cracking under the pressure.  I’m having a hard time understanding why because while yes there is a lot of work to do each day, the work itself isn’t all that hard.  The customer’s can be asshats a lot of the time, but they aren’t typically so bad that you can’t deal with whatever their issue is and then just move on.  Phyllis just doesn’t seem to be able to take it though.  She has told me several times that she doesn’t know if she is going to be able to last at this job and so on and so forth.

I guess it just comes down to the fact that I’m so used to being yelled at by insurance agents from my last job that the stress of this job is basically non-existent for me.  I’m not enjoying the fact that I’m getting up at 5:30 every morning to be at work from 6:00 a.m. to at least 5:00 p.m. everyday.  I’m taking half hour lunches by choice just so I can get in even more OT.  The thing is… Jacob got laid off at the beginning of the month.  Totally sucked!  We just entered into the winter rainy season here, so landscaping companies aren’t hiring right now and things are slow for construction because of all the rain too.  The company that he was working for told him to check back in February if he still hadn’t found another job because things might have picked back up by then and they would gladly hire him back.  Knowing Jacob though, he won’t do that.

At this point neither of us is stressing out about the situation because we have seen how much God continues to provide for us.  I’m currently making the same amount of money that we were bringing in when I was on unemployment and Jacob was working.  He’s not on unemployment at all and the OT that I’m getting at work is nothing short of a blessing.  I’m sure that Jacob will be able to find work within the next month or so, and in the meantime I have faith that God will continue to take care of us.

Right now, Jacob actually has poison oak all over his face.  Nowhere else on his body.  Just on his face.  It started out around his eyes.  I have no idea how he pulled that off, but he did and now his face is all puffy and swollen.  Poor guy.  I felt so bad for him when I got home from work today.

Like I said before… since it’s been so long since my last update, I’m not even going to bother trying to come up with a list of what’s been going on for the past month.  Hopefully I’ll find the motivation to keep this thing update more often.  =)  At least I finally got the Christmas decor taken down here!  LOL

I’m off to find something to eat/drink.

Until next time… whenever that may be,
JamieLynn =)

Gotta love OT! ugh, I feel for Jacob. I had poison ivy on my face, hands and neck once and it was NOT fun! Luckily it wasn’t anywhere near my eyes! That sounds horrible!
