Blessings and Losses *EDIT*

Well this was going to be an entry full of blessings today… unfortunately, Jacob’s mom just called to ask me to have Jacob call her as soon as I talk to him.  Seems that her father passed away this morning.  I knew she had been calling this morning, and I heard her message on the voicemail, but hadn’t been able to call her back to let her know that Jacob wouldn’t be able to call her until later this afternoon.  I feel so bad for her because her father lived all the way over in Florida.  She’s not going to be able to attend the funeral as far as I can tell anyway.  I don’t think that she is well enough to be able to even travel all the way over there if she could afford to.  *sigh*  My thoughts and prayers are with their family.

I’m not looking forward to telling Jacob of the bad news either.  It’s probably a good thing that he was planning on going up there this weekend, although it wasn’t for this reason that he is going.  I’m not sure how things will go now, or if whether or not anything will change (I don’t see why this unfortunate news would make a difference) but his mom finally is going to give him her car.  She has been promising her car to him for years, and she finally came around is going to let him have it.  It took Nana actually telling his mom that she should give us the car, so luckily enough she was willing to do that for Jacob.  As long as things still go as anticipated, we will have a ’96 Mustang by this time next week.  =)

We really do need another car.  One) I’m tired of having to get up at 6:30 every morning just to give him a ride to work.  Two) The car that we have now is only an A to B car.  We can’t go anywhere outside of the immediate San Jose area with it.  Now that it’s summer time, we will want to be able to go to Santa Cruz on the weekends.  We’ll want to be able to go see his mom whenever we want.  We’ll be able to take road trips at a whim.  We will have so much more freedom with this "new" car.  I’m doing my best not to get my hopes up though.  It’s one of those things that I’ll believe it when I see it.  LOL

So Jacob is supposed to be going up to his mom’s this weekend to spend some time with her, help her out around her house, and then come back on Sunday.  At this point, I’m not planning on going with him.  He’s probably going to take the bus up there on Friday after work, and then he’ll drive back on Sunday.  It will be the longest road trip that he’s ever taken by himself, so I’ll be saying my prayers that he’ll make it home safe and sound without getting lost along the way.  Lord knows that my husband is not the best when it comes to directions, although I’m sure that he’s a little bit better now that he has to drive for work.  He probably pays more attention.

While he is gone, I will possibly be attending a church barbecue on Saturday.  I’m not certain yet, but will decide closer to or on the day of the event.  And then I’ll for sure be going to church on Sunday.

We attended church for the first time yesterday at the Covenant church that I located online.  I absolutely loved it!  And Jacob enjoyed it as well.  The minute that we got there, people started coming up to us and introducing themselves… welcoming us to their service.  EVERYONE was so so nice.  Not that you would expect them to be rude, but they were welcoming and kind and beautiful people.  The music was awesome!!!  The service was exactly what I’ve been searching for.  I’m almost certain that this will be the chuch that we will be joining.

Because of the new church, we are going to be quite busy for the rest of this month.  This coming weekend is the church barbecue on Saturday.  Sunday after service, the pastor’s wife invited us to lunch.  I’m not sure about lunch after service now though since Jacob may not be there.  Maybe we can postpone that until another Sunday.  Memorial Day weekend Sunday we will be going to church in the park, and it’s going to be a potluck afterwards I believe.  The following weekend of the 31st, we will be going to a baseball game.  They mentioned during service yesterday that they had tickets for sale for $5/piece for anyone who would like to go to the game.  I had already made a mental note to bring extra money next Sunday, so that Jacob and I could get tickets.  Well, after service was finished, we were standing around and visiting with some of the church members when one of the ladies came up and just gave us two tickets and said they would like us to come to the game as guests of the church.  =)  They seriously are some of the nicest people.

I could probably ramble on and on about everything, but I have more than just that to write about.

Jacob and I are getting a laptop computer from Rent-A-Center.  It’s a brand new Sony Vaio, and we are supposed to be able to pick it up today from the store.  They are still doing our background check to make sure that we have jobs and live where we say we do.  We figured out that if we make a month’s payment this week, and then a $500 payment in both June and July, that we will be able to have it payed off for the cash price in the first 90 days.  That of course is in our best interest to do so.  After we get done with getting the computer, there was a really neat sectional couch that I really would love to get later this summer as well.  First thing’s first though.

It will be nice to have our own computer at home again.  *sigh*  I’ll be able to download pictures all the time now and now have to put them on a disc at Walgreens first.  I’ll be able to use my scrapbooking program that I bought oh so very long ago.  I’ll be able to do so much fun stuff.  Oh… and of course Jacob will be able to play his stupid game at home instead of wasting money at the internet cafe.

I’m just so happy to see all of the blessings that we have in our lives lately.  While it saddens me that there has been a loss in Jacob’s family, I can’t help but think that his Papa Frank has moved on to a better place now.  He obviously is no longer suffering any of the illnesses that were consuming his life on a daily basis.  Of course nobody really wants to hear that when they lose a loved one, but in all honesty it’s the truth.  Needless to say, while his family is saddened by the loss of their loved one, more than anything it’s a blessing that he has been able to move on from his suffering.  God bless him and all of his loved ones.

I’m off to get something to eat for lunch now.  Hope everyone has a great week!

Laters,
JamieLynn =)

*EDIT*
Jacob has picked up the laptop!  I’m so excited to go home and play around with it!
