40 Flights Down, 3 LBS Up
Day one of the Step Up Challenge at work went well. I was able to surprisingly get in 40 flights of stairs within my 8 hour work day. Today? Not so much. LOL I think it has to do with the fact that I haven’t been drinking as much water today which in turn is dehydrating my muscles causing them to cramp up more. Plus I didn’t do any stretching to help the matter any. So I’ll make it to 30 flights or so today, and call it good.
We had to make some changes to the challenge today though. Seems that there are people (okay one person in particular) who doesn’t understand what the honor system is. Meaning that we have all made a commitment to be HONEST about the number of flights that we are climbing each day. One person in particular seems to quite obviously be inflating their numbers in an effort to be ahead of the game. The guy is trying to say that he climbed 58 flights yesterday which while possible is not likely. Then this morning, he tried saying that he did 22 flights in his 10 minute break. Yeah. REALLY not likely.
So in an effort to even the playing field and hopefully even out his skewed numbers, I teamed everyone up in teams of three. Only the average number of flights climbed per team will count for the total at the end of the competition, and the prize will be split between the three members of the winning team. It was either this or pull the prize from the table completely so that it wouldn’t have any baring on the results of the challenge.
Here’s the kicker. My team consists of one of my best friends here at work, me, and The Director. Bwuahahaha!!! Whoda thunk? Luckily we are getting along at the moment, so it should be a fun challenge.
Moving on. Last night was my weekly Bible study. I’ve also been weighing in at my friend’s house before Bible study each week. Last week, I had gone down about 4 pounds. This week… I was back up three. THREE! What the heck? So here’s hoping that adding the stair challenge to my daily routine and getting to Cross Fit three times a week will bring some better results!
I couldn’t lose weight until I started lifting. It’s made all the difference. I’ve only lost 9 pounds, but after just a month my clothing is falling off me.
