Letting go

Cutting off my past

with the present

so I’m looking into the future for my history.

Everything is different

harder

slower

Maybe this caterpillar didn’t want to

be a butterfly

plagued with the guilt

of leaving those worms behind.

Remember the wings that

carry you away

also keep you from going back.
