Uncle Bill – MRSA hospital superbug

 bad news.

my great uncle has been very ill for a long time. i dont know him very well but obviously my nan and gdad are very close to him. he is always in and out of hospital and recently he becamse very ill and was taken in. nan let on just how ill he was by asking me if she could give him the flask i lent her when she was in hospital a few months back.  he cant hold a cup and he cant drink even when the nurses are holding it.  This flask has a long bendy straw coming out of the lid you see…she thought he would be able to put it on that table hospital beds have pulled aver them when you’re eating so he wouldnt have to move very much…

anyway, we found out he has contracted the MRSA hospital superbug that’s killing and paralysing loads of people in the UK. My grandparents are so worried…obviously. it makes it even worse that, because my grandad has cancer and is having chemotherapy and has just finished radiotherapy, he isn’t allowed to go in the room and visit him. and my nan is pretty weak (not that she would admit it) too. we dont like the thought of her going in the room…just in case. What if this kills him? (touch wood it wont) i mean he’s very weak and ill anyway… my nan and gdad wont have been able to visit him during his last days…

also, it was a year ago yesterday his wife died. what if he gives up? that side of my family isnt very big because most of them are in Germany.

Sometimes it makes you wonder, what if he hadnt gone into hospital? he wouldnt have gotten the treatment for his other illnesses and they might have killed him. but, then again, they might not have and now he’s gone into hospital and contrated MRSA which might kill him…better option? stay at home and not get treatment or go to hospital and risk making yourself a lot lot lot worse off?

UK hospitals suck.
