the lady-friend

when guns and i were dating-dating instead of just kinda-dating/seeing-each-other-from-time-to-time i would go to church with her fairly regularly.  there was a couple that sat in front of us.  the colonel and his lady-friend.  the colonel was a nice guy, had a deep voice and always had a smile.  his lady-friend, whose name was judy, was also very kind and always had a nice word to say to us.  they were very loving and kind to each other.  he would help her up by putting his hand to her lower back and when it came time to "pass the peace" as it were they give each other a quick kiss and then start shaking hands with those around them.  i looked at them and often thought how nice it must be to have that kind of relationship.  they were, in short, a cute couple.  adorable in fact.  i looked forward to seeing them everytime i went to church with guns.  but with guns’ and i’s "break up" i stopped going to church there because i thought it would be awkward and it probably would of been.

guns and are talking again and we’ve gone out a couple times.  i think we’re working through what it was that pushed us apart.  but that’s not what i’m writing about.  no, the colonel’s lady-friend judy died last night.

she’d been sick, i guess, and was in the hospital.  she had double pneumonia.  she died around 3am this morning.  i’ve been kind of sad all day about it.  she was such a wonderful lady and i’m sure the colonel is heartbroken.  i take comfort in the fact that judy was in the Grace and believed in Jesus Christ as her saviour.  she is celebrating right now and for that i am thankful.

i’ll miss her.  she was a great lady.
