fountain square & garfield park

fountain square is a nifty little artsy-fartsy place in indianapolis.  its where the hipsters hang out.  there are a couple other places like that in indianapolis: broad ripple and mass ave (named after that state, but i can’t spell it).  i live about a mile and half away from fountain square.  i spend too much money and time in fountain square.

fountain square, or as i call it "ftsq" on twitter (@loofrin) is a historic place in indy.  back in the day, when indy had horse driven trolleys, the horses would "water" at the fountains.  there is actually a working fountain in the square.  matter of fact, i’ve watered myself at that fountain.

i have fallen in love with ftsq.  it has become my "home."  its cool to see the old, brick buildings, turned into shops and restaraunts.  matter of fact, one of my favorite restaraunts is called Red Lion Grog House.  i have spent a lot of money there.  i’ve actually become the "mayor" on foursquare there (again, @loofrin).

i also live less than a mile from Garfield Park.  which is the oldest public park in indy.  it is a wonderful place.  and has the most amazing "sunken gardens" as well as a beautiful greenhouse.  i go there just to unwind.  one of these days i’m going to take my army blanket, some water, and uncle walt whitman, sit under a tree and read.
