The Days Go By

Trying out our new DVD Recorder tonight.  Transferring video from camcorder tapes from a year or so ago to DVD makes you realize how quickly babies grow into toddlers and little girls grow into young women.  It’s also amazing how quickly the memories fade.  Lauren looks so different now and Natalie though not changed quite so much in appearance has matured so much in such a short time.  It almost makes me wonder where I was during that time.  I think I have let work take too much of  my time and energy lately.

Alice indulged my yesterday and we took a day off from work and drove back to my home county.   I feel like a stranger in my own land anymore when I go back there.  All of the people who were important to me are gone.  That’s the problem with being a generation out of sync with the rest of the family.  My fater has been dead for almost 13 years and my mother is fading fast.  Other people my age have parents, aunts, uncles, etc. that are still vital.  I’ve had children a little later than most of those I grew up with but not to the extent my parents did.  I hope it was early enough.
