Amber Alert

I get the Louisville, KY local stations via my dish and tonight while watching ER via TiVo a few minutes behind real time I caught a blurb about police catching a man wanted in connection with an Amber Alert.  Seems he took his young daughter yesterday at gun point and was stopped in Seymour (is that how you spell it?) IN. Long story short – he was shot and killed by two police man and a state trouper.  Now I don’t know the whole story.  Not by a long shot, but I do know that divorce is never kind to the father.  At least not in most of the heartland of the country.  I do know this.  A little girl is going to never know her daddy.  What drove this man to this extreeme I may never know and I don’t condone it, but I can understand it.  I believe it is one of the most unfair situations a man can be in to want to be with his children and have no chance at gaining custody of his children.  You can tell me all the horrible stories you can imagine and it still doesn’t make it right for the good guys to pay the price because the system doesn’t work for the bad ones.  I got what will probably be the last penny I’ll ever get from a man who I had to evict.  To attempt to collect what was owed me I had his wages garnished only to find that I had to get in line behind the first garnishment for child support.  The letter from my lawyer stated that his employement had been terminated.  Most likely it was the only way for him to quit paying his child support (and me).  The amount he still owes me is less than $1,000.  But I digress.  The point is that he is not one of the good ones.

Amber Alert my ass.

I was on the road the other day and saw an Amber alert. I’m so glad they have that now. It gave the license plate, car make and model and everything. I hope they caught the culprit(s).
